LC / MC REGATTA 2017
Musaeus College beat Ladies’ College in their 14th Annual Regatta for the Marie Musaeus Higgins Challenge Trophy which took place at the Colombo Rowing Club waters on the 7th of October. This year’s chief guest of the regatta was Mrs. Sharmila Gunetilleke , Principal, Bishops College.
The ‘A’ pair participated by Senuri De Silva and Maedhini De Alwis created a new record of 4.02.
The tally points are as follows.

Prize Giving – 2016/2017
The Annual Prize Giving of Musaeus College was held on 27th of September 2017 at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall from 3.00 p.m. onwards.
The Chief Guest for the day was Professor Kemal Deen, Consultant Surgeon and former Senior Professor of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine-University of Kelaniya.
SLIM Marketing Roks! 2017 – Interschool Competition
Musaeus College emerged champions in the Marketing Roks! 2017 (case study) and first runners up in the Take Home Challenge (case study) organized by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing. Nipuni Dayananda was awarded as the best presenter of the SLIM Marketing Roks! 2017.

Congratulation for Winning the Best Drama by Musaeus College
Musaeus College wins Best Drama Award, Best Production and Best Actor (Nethmi Lishadhi Mayadunne) Awards at the All-Island Buddhist Drama Competition 2017 organized by the Colombo YMBA. The play “Bhawa Thanha” (based on “Serivanija Jathaka”) is a production of Visharadha Deepika Thelma Abeygonaratna (Teacher of Drama & Dancing at Musaeus College) and the Sinhala Drama Society of the College.
SLIIT Codefest-2016 – School ICT Quiz Competition
Musaeus College emerged “Champions” out of 50 schools at the SLIIT CODEFEST 2016 ICT quiz – National Software Competition which was held on the 4th November 2016 at the SLIIT-Faculty of Computing, for the second consecutive year. This was conducted by the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. Thilara Ekanayake, Samadhi Pratheesha and Sajni De Silva represented the school at the above event.

Annual Sports Awards Ceremony of Musaeus College was held on the 31st of October 2016 at the Peter De Abrew Memorial Auditorium from 3.00 p.m. onwards, under the patronage of Mr. Kumar Sangakkara, former Captain of the Sri Lanka Cricket Team.

The 13th Annual LCMC Regatta was held on the 1st of October 2016 at 1.00 p.m. at the Colombo Rowing Club. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Damith Subasinghe, The President, Rowing Club.

Chamadari Weerasinghe of Musaeus College was placed All Island 1st at the Biology Olympiad 2016 and she will be representing Sri Lanka at the International Biology Olympiad 2016 in Vietnam. |

Devni Nethma Wanigaarachchi of Musaeus College won 1st place at the National Public Speaking Competition, represented Sri Lanka at the International Public Speaking Competition which was organized by the English Speaking Union of London, and was selected to the Top 6 speakers in the world. She competed with 49 countries which consisted of 56 participants.

Based on the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination 2015 Performance Indices Prepared according to the stanine scale, published by the Department of Examination, Sri Lanka. Musaeus College is placed 1st among private schools and 6th among all schools in the Island. Further, according to the subject performance index, Musaeus College has acquired a score of 88 for English Language which is the highest scored in the country for this subject.

Inter-House Athletic Meet 2016
The Annual Inter-house Sports Meet was held on the 12th of February 2016 at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Pujith Jayasundara, Senior Deputy Inspector General – Western Province and the Guest of Honour was Dr.Asanga Wijayaratne.
Four houses namely Besant, De Abrew, Higgins & Olcott competed for the championship when Besant emerged as the champions while Higgins was placed the runners up. De Abrew & Olcott won the 3rd & the 4th places respectively.

The 12th Annual LCMC Regatta was held on the 10th of October 2015 at 12.00 noon. at the Colombo
Rowing Club. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Asoka Wickramasinghe, The Chairman, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd.
State Children’s Drama Festival – 2015
The State Drama Festival 2015 which concluded recently displayed the talents of the students of Primary Section and they were able to win many awards.
M. D. Nihara Mendis (5 I) was awarded a Merit Certificate for her performance in the Sinhala Category Drama (Limited)
The State Children’s Drama Festival -2015 . at Maradana Tower Hall Theater
The State Children’s Drama Festival 2015 jointly organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Panel of Drama of the Sri Lanka Arts Council on the instructions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, North western Development and Cultural Affairs will be held from 15th September to 23rd September 2015 at 5.00 p.m. at Maradana Tower Hall Theater.
Sinhala, Tamil and English dramas will be staged on a single stage at this occasion. 34 children’s dramas are to be staged in the final round in three languages comprising 18 dramas from the limited category and 16 from the open category, for which two drama “Curd and Treacle” – English and “Man Waradida?” – Sinhala were performed by the Primary Section.

The Ranfer Sprints Regatta was held on the 5th September at 2.30 p.m. at the Colombo Rowing Club. Boats that are best at sprinting from Ladies’ College, Musaeus College and Bishops College entered the three lanes on the Beira Lake.
The competition was rather tough between Ladies’ College and Musaeus College, Janethri Marapana the MC sculler, Dilki Wijeysekera and Senuri De Silva the pair from MC led the LC pair and Scull in both rounds bringing 30 points to the team. But the LC four consisting of Ishara Abbbey, Chanika Goonathileka, Nihara Waravita, Dihanie Amarasinghe and Tehani Walpola managed to lead the MC four by half a boat length in the first round and in the second round by one second giving them a good fight till the end. In conclusion Musaeus College became the overall champions over Ladies’ College who settled for silver at the end of the second round, with an overall point tally of 29/30.
All Island Inter School Dancing Competition – 2015 (Junior Division) 1st Place – Musaeus College
16 graceful dancers accompanied by 8 melodies voices, the junior dancing troupe of Musaeus College mesmerized the audience when they secured the 1st Place at the All Island Inter School Dancing Competition – 2015 held at Thaksila Maha Vidyalaya, Horana.
Dilhara Wickramasinghe – World 8th at FIDE World Chess Championship
Dilhara Ishini Wickramasinghe was placed 8th in the world in the final ranking of FIDE World School Chess Championship 2015 held in Thailand from 06th to 15th May 2015. Students from 34 countries participated in this tournament.

Nursery Concert 2014 – “Singithi Sulang”
The annual concert of the Nursery Section, “Singithi Sulang 2014” was held on Friday 21st November 2014 at the Peter De Abrew Auditorium.
The chief guest was, Principal, Mrs. S. Dandeniya. Member of the board of trustees Mr. Naveen Gunaratne & Mrs Gunaratne, Deputy Principals, Mrs. R. Gunaratne & Mrs. C. Jayathilaka, Primary Headmistress Mrs. S. Tennakoone and Nursery Headmistress Mrs M. Wijayawardhana also graced the occasion.
It was an entertaining evening filled with music and drama.

Annual Sports Awards Ceremony was held on 4th of December 2014 at the Peter De Abrew Memorial Auditorium from 3.00 p.m. onwards. The Chief Guest for the day was Mrs. Nirmalee Wickramasinghe, the former principal of Ladies’ College.
Musaeus College celebrated it’s 123rd School Birthday on the 15th of November, 2014, on a simple scale.
An almsgiving for 12 priests; symbolizing the first 12 pupils who were there at the inception of the school on the 15th of November, 1891, took place in the school premises.

The 11th Annual Ladies’ College – Musaeus College Regatta 2014
The 11th Annual LCMC Regatta was held on the 11th of October 2014 at the Colombo Rowing Club from 1.00 p.m. onwards. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Lakmal Wickramage, the National Coach for rowing.
Bhakthi Gee 2014
The Annual Bhakthi Gee of the Nursery Section was held on the 23rd of May 2014 at the Peter de Abrew auditorium at 4.00 p.m. The Chief Guest for the event was Prof. J. B. Dissanayake and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Dayan Vitharana. All the children of the Lower Nursery and Upper Nursery participated in this event. The Principal, Mrs. S Dandeniya, Deputy Principals, Mrs.R. Gunaratne and Mrs.C. Jayathilake,and Primary Headmistress Mrs. Tennakonne also graced this occasion.

TRIATHLON – 2014
The Musaeus Walk, Triathlon 2014 was held on the 3rd of May 2014. The colourful procession which began around 8.00 am from the Rosmead Place school entrance proceeded to Bloomfield grounds passing Town Hall and Nelumpokuna theatre. Principal S. Dandeniya also took part. To mark ‘Triathlon 2014’ a carnival and funfair was held at the Bloomfield grounds till 3.00 in the evening.
Nisali Liyanage has brought glory to Musaeus College by being placed all island 2nd in the Art Stream after re-corrections.
