Graham Waterhouse receives
standing ovations at Munich's Gasteig,

British cellist and composer Graham Waterhouse, Cambridge educated and residing in Munich, Germany, got standing ovations from an enthusiastic audience at the Munich Gasteig on 9 February 2014, for his Sextet for Strings, Op 1.

Waterhouse played the cello himself for his sextet and throughout the concert and was backed up by some fine musicians from around the world: Japanese oboist Yukino Thompson, currently at the Bayerische Staatsoper, who studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London and is as skilled with the oboe as she is pretty; cellist Sven Faulian, of the Munich Philharmonic, a graduate of the acclaimed Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule in Berlin; the Salzburg born, highly acclaimed violinist David Frühwirth, playing the Stradivarius that he currently has on loan; Clément Courtin (violin, France), also of the Munich Philharmonic; Konstantin Sellheim (viola), a multiple award winning musician who is currently also at the Munich Philharmonic; and Gunter Pretzel (viola), who studied under the great Bruno Giuranna.
