We live for the lights, the music, the food, the learning, the inspiration, and the togetherness. We live for positive change and transformative experiences that blaze a path toward endless possibilities. The awesome potential of every event keeps us on our toes and, sometimes, knee-deep in caffeine. But the magic of pulling it all off? Totally worth it.

Portland’s reputation for great food and drink is renowned, and we're no exception. A world of delicious and healthy culinary options await you. Coffee, tea, or kombucha? Hey, you're in the Pacific Northwest. You can enjoy local beer on tap, wine, and spirits too!

You'll find water bottle fill stations at our water fountains if you carry a reusable container — which we encourage!

As a reminder, outside food and beverages are not allowed in the convention center, and you may be asked to return items to your car or consume them outside if you bring them inside with you. All food and beverage services are provided exclusively through our in-house catering partner, Levy.

Public safety

If you notice anything or anyone that makes you uncomfortable, please notify OCC staff by calling 503-731-7849 or dialing “7849” from any of the house phones located throughout the facility. Be smart. Keep your valuables with you at all times. Don't leave them in your car, and lock the doors before heading to your event.

First aid and medical attention

The facility has two fully equipped first aid rooms, one located in the Exhibit Hall A Lobby and the other outside Exhibit Hall E. An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is on site during events with attendance over 1,000 or when otherwise deemed appropriate for the safety of attendees.

EMTs may be contacted by picking up any house phone and dialing “7849” or by alerting any OCC staff member.

The building also has multiple defibrillator stations (AEDs) located in public spaces for immediate response to a medical emergency.

Lockers and personal storage

The OCC has locker rentals available for short-term storage of personal items thanks to our partners at LocketGo. These salmon-colored lockers are reservable with your mobile device and a credit card. There are three convenient locations throughout the building. Please click on your preferred location to go to the reservation platform.

  • MLK Lobby (near main entrance)
  • Holladay Lobby (north end of the building)
  • Ginkoberry Concourse (south end of the building)

Lost and found

Sometimes you just forget where you set your phone, or you leave your coat on the back of a chair. Lost and found items are tagged, cataloged and stored for 30 days. After that, unclaimed items are donated. If you’ve lost something, call OCC welcome concierge at 503-731-7800 or email a detailed description to [email protected]. If you’ve found an item, it can be turned in to any staff member, or at the OCC welcome desk located in the MLK Lobby. Please provide a detailed description of the item you lost. If you happen to have a photo of your missing item, it will help us identify it.

Please recycle – and compost

Spend some time at the OCC and you'll soon catch on that we’re "greener" than most event venues. You'll encounter options to recycle and compost items you no longer want or can't keep, so please sort them carefully into the receptacles we provide. If you have a reusable bottle for your water, look for the bottle fill stations at our water fountains too!

Wireless internet access is available throughout the convention center. Complimentary Wi-Fi service is available in all lobbies and meeting rooms.

Individual pay-as-you-go Wi-Fi service

Alcohol consumption

We love our beer, wine and spirits in Portland, but we also want everyone to enjoy their visit in a safe and friendly atmosphere. An alcoholic beverage may only be consumed in the area where it was purchased.

Animals

Our animal friends are the best, but animals are not permitted on the convention center grounds. This includes emotional support animals. Only service dogs or miniature horses trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability, through a specific action, are allowed.

Balloons and flying objects

Due to our high ceilings and exposed rigging, no helium (or lighter-than-air) balloons are permitted inside the venue. Visitors are not permitted to bring any flying objects—including drones—into the venue or onto the convention center grounds without the express permission of the executive director.

Footwear

Shoes with protective soles must be worn at all times. Walking barefoot inside the building is not allowed.

Smoking

The OCC is a non-smoking venue. This includes e-cigarettes, vaporizers, and all smokable substances. Smoking is permitted outside the facility only in designated areas.

Weapons

Firearms are banned in all public buildings in Oregon with limited exceptions such as possession of a concealed handgun license.  OCC prohibits weapons such as metal knuckles, straight razors, nunchaku, slingshots, explosives or knives over three inches.
