Niagara Falls, Ontario
Completed in 2005, this project was both iconic and bold in architectural expression. Borrowing air rights over top of an existing 3 hextare precast parking garage, this significant engineering feat includes a five storey carnival like tent structure, housing 16 water slide experiences, a large wave pool, heated bathing pools and other spaces. The existing parking garage structure had to be reinforced from the ground up with columns extending through the parking garage. To reduce the weight, the envelope of the park is a PVC wrapped insulated truss structure. All hotels on the property were then subsequently connected to the waterpark to allow indoor access year-round.
