Ford Consul 1972-76

In 1972 the 'Consul' name was given to a new lower-priced version of the pan-European Ford Granada. Standard engine was the 1996 cc Essex V4, or 2495 cc Essex V6, but there was also a 2994 cc Essex V6 option for the Consul GT. Both 4-door saloon and 5-door Estate bodies were offered. In 1975 Ford dropped the 'Consul' badge and these cars were re-badged as 'Granada'.

Ford Consul 2500 V6 Estate. The Consul undercut the price of the Granada and was not as well equipped. Most Consuls had a1996 cc Essex V4, or 2495 cc Essex V6, but in Germany the 1680 cc Ford Taunus V4 engine was offered. There was also a Consul GT fitted with the Granada 2994 cc Essex V6 engine.
