When Swedish grandmother Anna Karlsson started her ginger cookie bakery in the 1920's, she was merely carrying on Sweden's 500 year old tradition. In 1444, the nuns at the Vadstena convent baked and consumed gingerbread to aid their digestion. King Johan II who ruled Sweden from 1497 until 1501, was prescribed gingerbread by his physician, since was frequently of bad mood and it was generally thought that eating gingerbread made you feel happy.  That is why baking ginger cookies was important to Anna in 1929, and that is why we still bake them to her original recipe. Today, Anna's Ginger Thins are in high demand throughout the world.

Baked in Canada using ingredients that have been carefully selected to faithfully match those used at Anna's Swedish bakery.
