Come Friday and the Verizon Wireless new iPad Wi-Fi + 4G version will be up for grabs through the network operator. Well, it shouldn’t come as a revelation for anyone who has been following news of Apple’s latest tablet closely.
Fans who’ve been holding off the itch to lay hands on the iPad 2 have probably been rewarded in one way or another considering that the older tablet received a price cut, while the newer one sells at the same rate as its predecessor. It certainly looks like Apple is planning to recover the cost of the higher end components by merely vending more units instead of tagging the slates with heavier prices.
“Customers have been enthusiastic over the iPad on our 3G network and we expect even more excitement for the new iPad with Wi-Fi + 4G on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network,” expressed Tami Erwin, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. “With more and more customers depending on their iPad for business, as well as personal use, it is important that they have a network that delivers high speed and reliability, nationwide.”
Among the new iPad highlights are a 9.7-inch Retina display offering resolutions of 2048 x 1536p in 264ppi sharpness, a 5MP iSight camera and a dual core A5X chipset. Let’s not forget that the Cupertino giant even hopped onto the 4G LTE train with its latest introduction. And Verizon is not the only one to eye the device as AT&T is also rolling up its sleeves and getting ready for this Friday’s launch.
The Verizon Wireless new iPad price is $629 for the 16GB version. Those in need of more hoarding space than that, can pick up the 32GB or 64GB models which are marked at $729 and $829, correspondingly. March 16 is the D-Day on which the tablet will be out through Verizon Wireless Communications Stores as well as the carrier’s online portal.
