Better after breakup, indeed! Jennifer Garner wowed in a black gown on the red carpet at the Academy Awards 2016 on Sunday, February 28, in L.A.
The Miracles From Heaven actress and Oscar presenter, 43, wore a not-so-basic black Atelier Versace dress with an asymmetrical neckline, a half-embellished bodice and a draped skirt. She finished with a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch, drop earrings, diamond bracelets and minimalist Rene Caovilla sandals.
Her appearance came just two days after the reveal of her March 2016 Vanity Fair cover, which featured the mom of three in a plunging striped dress on the cover — and inside, dishing plenty about her separation from estranged husband Ben Affleck.
Addressing the belief that Affleck’s relationship with nanny Christine Ouzounian caused the split, Garner said, “Let me just tell you something. We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives.”
As for the Batman v. Superman actor’s larger-than-life persona, the 13 Going on 30 actress said, “I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him. And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again.”
She went on, “You can’t have these three babies and so much of what we had. He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He’s just a complicated guy. I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”
