12-Feb-00 Headlight Mounts Part 1

Shock and Headlight Mounts

ImageI'll start this article by showing you the cut shock mount. Yes, I cut them down and will no longer have the turn signals in them. Some of the photos show the tall towers before they were cut.
ImageI grabbed my trusty sheet of 10-gauge (1/8 inch) steel and started the headlight mounts by drilling a 1 3/4 inch hole.
ImageNext I drilled two 1-inch holes on each side of the big hole leaving 3/8 inch of metal between them.
ImageKind of looks like a little dash board huh? Don’t worry I’m going to clue you in on what I’m doing soon, I just want to keep you in suspense! ;)
ImageThe black lines signify future cut marks.
ImageA Sawsall was used to cut along the lines between the holes. Note the hi-tech saw horses with built in trash disposal unit. :)
