Latest Beauty Finds: Hits and Misses

latest beauty finds: hits and misses

Happy Friday, friends! It’s been awhile since I’ve done a beauty round-up (maybe this time last year?!) so I thought it was time to share not only some of my recent favorite finds, but a few misses, too. Here are my latest beauty finds: hits and misses!

Latest Beauty Finds: Hits and Misses

latest beauty finds: hits and misses

1. Nourishing Hair Oil | 2. NARS lip balm (fast lane) | 3. Buxom lip gloss (blushing margarita) | 4. Nécessaire Body Wash (sandalwood) | 5. Lawless Blush (vintage love) | 6. Charlotte Tilbury Light Wand Highlighter | 7. drybar Prep Rally | 8. Mad Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner | 9. Moroccanoil Leave-In Conditioner | 10. T3 Straightener | 11. T3 Curling Wand | 12. Tarte Shape Tape (Porcelain Beige)

Here is a quick recap of each of these products. If there is a certain color or scent I use, I have listed that in parentheses.

Nourishing Hair Oil: I actually bought this in the travel size (see that here) because it was a new-to-me product. I’ve been using it for about three months now and I absolutely love it. I just add it to the ends of my wet hair before drying and it gives my hair so much moisture, without weighing it down. Hair oil that I have used in the past has made my hair heavy and greasy — this does not! I’m just about done with the travel size and I will be buying the full size. Highly recommend if you are looking to add some hydration to your hair.

Moroccanoil Leave-in Conditioner: Going a little out of order to talk about this one because I use this leave-in conditioner in conjunction with the hair oil I mentioned above. I spray this on my wet hair from about halfway down my hair to the ends before using the oil and blow drying. Not only does it smell amazing (don’t all Moroccanoil products?!) but it gives my hair extra hydration without the added weight. It would be hard for me to pick between this and the above oil, I love both and never use one without the other!

NARS Lip Balm (fast lane) and Buxom Lip Gloss (blushing margarita): This is one of my new favorites when it comes to a lip combination. It’s pretty much a neutral, but it adds just a little hint of pink. Perfect for the spring and summer months! This is the first time I have tried the NARS lip balm — I love the formula. It leaves your lips feeling hydrated and soft, which isn’t always the case with lipstick. This lipgloss is a plumping cream and is the perfect match for the lip balm. If I use a liner with this lip combination, I will use this lip liner in the color soar.

Nécessaire Body Wash (sandalwood): I talked about this body wash in my recap of my favorite purchases from 2020 (see the post here) and I still can’t get enough of it! I’ve tried all three scents: sandalwood, eucalyptus, and fragrance free. While I like all of them, sandalwood is my absolute favorite. The body wash leaves your skin feeling so soft and hydrated. And it is actually good for you! It is a little pricey, but a little goes a long way. I am planning to stock up next month during the Sephora Sale (stay tuned!!).

Lawless Blush (vintage love): Over the past few years, I have been trying to transition to cleaner beauty products. I have used a blush from Urban Decay for years. It’s the best color! But, in an effort to find a cleaner blush, I came across the Lawless brand. The color that was the closest match to my favorite Urban Decay was “vintage love” but it was sold out. I waited for a month for it to come back in stock and ordered it immediately. Best part: it’s a perfect match! It goes on smooth and is the perfect dusty rose shade.

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wand Highlighter: While I have only been using this highlighter for a few weeks, it is one of my favorite new tricks in my beauty drawer. I am by no means a beauty expert, but I do like to add a bit of highlighter to the tops of my cheeks and corner of my eye before finishing my makeup routine. You could easily use this to highlight several parts of your face, I’m not that brave with contouring and highlighting yet!

drybar Prep Rally: The only complaint I have about this product is that I wish the bottle was bigger! I spray this on my hair right when I get out of the shower, before I even brush it. This product acts as a detangler and it is also a heat protectant up to 450 degrees! Not to mention, the smell of the spray is amazing.

Mad Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner: Of all the products on this list, this is my latest and greatest! I have been trying to achieve Fallon Carrington’s (of Dynasty) winged eyeliner. After watching a makeup tutorial on how she does her makeup, she raved about this eyeliner. I obviously had to try it! And wow, it is really good. I have worn Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner for a few years and have always liked it. However, this new eyeliner makes applying eyeliner (especially winged eyeliner) so easy!

T3 Curling Wand & T3 Straightener: I have been styling my hair with both the T3 curling wand and the straightener lately and I love the messy curl look. After dividing my hair into parts and using the curling wand, I allow the curl to cool and then go through with the straightener and straighten the root and ends of each piece. It’s a great way to achieve a messier, laid-back wave. I will share a tutorial on how I style it soon!

Tarte Shape Tape (Porcelain Beige): I have heard great things about this Tarte concealer for years, and after finally trying it, I can see why. I have worn NARS radiant creamy concealer for years (see it here). And while I still love the NARS, if you are looking for a full coverage concealer, Tarte Shape Tape is the way to go. I wear the porcelain beige shade, but there are TON of shades to pick from, so there is definitely something for everyone.

Recent Beauty Misses

I don’t want to spend a ton of time on these, but wanted to share a few of my recent beauty misses. Some of these are some popular products, so I want to give you my review. These products just weren’t for me:

Line Up Makeup Tape: This tape is designed to go around your eye so you can easily apply your eyeshadow without getting it all over your face. For me, the tape did not stick and would move all around. If you are looking for something similar, I found these on Amazon that work a lot better for me!

Makeup By Mario Master Eye & Prep Set: I was looking for a way to prime and set my eyes before apply eyeshadow so I thought I would try this palette. There were some good reviews, but I didn’t see a difference when it came to keeping my eyeshadow on any longer. I honestly find that concealer works great as an eyeshadow primer!

CEO Brightening Vitamin C Serum: This one is tough. I did really like this serum and wore it just about everyday. However, I went through it pretty quickly, and at $85 for 1 oz of product, it’s quite pricey. I wish it wasn’t so expensive, because it is something I would probably buy on the regular. But $85 is just a little too much for me to spend on something that didn’t last that long.
