This intervention is part of a project to pave and enhance the surroundings of the Church of Villamoros de Mansilla. During our study of the area, we discovered a small corner backed by the church tower. This little spot was in poor condition and had once been adorned many years ago by the local community group known as ‘La Hacendera,’ which had made small improvements like paving, benches, and a planter. Chäserrugg is the easternmost of the seven Churfirsten peaks and rises 2,262 meters above sea level. The ridge gently ascends from the Toggenburg valley to the north, then descends sharply to the south, forming a steep rock face that plunges nearly 1,900 meters down to the Walensee. Chäserrugg has been welcoming tourists ever since the construction of the Unterwasser – Iltios – Chäserrugg cable cars. Continue reading Herzog & de Meuron
