This intervention is part of a project to pave and enhance the surroundings of the Church of Villamoros de Mansilla. During our study of the area, we discovered a small corner backed by the church tower. This little spot was in poor condition and had once been adorned many years ago by the local community group known as ‘La Hacendera,’ which had made small improvements like paving, benches, and a planter. Chäserrugg is the easternmost of the seven Churfirsten peaks and rises 2,262 meters above sea level. The ridge gently ascends from the Toggenburg valley to the north, then descends sharply to the south, forming a steep rock face that plunges nearly 1,900 meters down to the Walensee. In a neighborhood where the courtyards remain in the interior part of the plot, the house inverts its morphology and displaces the empty space to the south of the plot, generating a new interior facade that opens to the south and to the views delimited by its perimeter wall.
