The Economist Intelligence Unit, commissioned by Microsoft, conducted a study of 1,034 pre-service and early-career teachers to gauge their views, opinions, and predictions on the future of teaching.

The study focuses on four themes:

• The role of technology inside and outside of the classroom and the perceived benefits, concerns, and barriers of using technology.
• Future working conditions and available resources, which covers how teachers are valued by society and how that impacts their well-being.
• The demographic trends of both teachers and students.
