They burned <08313> the bones <06106> of Edom’s <0123> king <04428> into lime <07875>.
2So I will set <07971> Moab <04124> on fire <0784>, and it will consume <0398> Kerioth’s <07152> fortresses <0759>. Moab <04124> will perish <04191> in the heat of battle <07588> amid war cries <08643> and the blaring <06963> of the ram’s horn <07782>.
3I will remove <03772> Moab’s leader <08199>; I will kill <02026> all <03605> Moab’s officials <08269> with <05973> him.” The Lord <03068> has spoken <0559>!
4This is what <03541> the Lord <03069> says <0559>: “Because Judah <03063> has committed three <07969> covenant transgressions <06588>– make that four <0702>!– I will not <03808> revoke <07725> my decree of judgment. They rejected <03988> the Lord’s <03069> law <08451>; they did not <03808> obey <08104> his commands <02706>. Their false gods <03577>, to which <0834> their fathers <01> were loyal, led <01980> them astray <08582>.
5So I will set <07971> Judah <03063> on fire <0784>, and it will consume <0398> Jerusalem’s <03389> fortresses <0759>.”
6This <03541> is what the Lord <03068> says <0559>: “Because <05921> Israel <03478> has committed three <07969> covenant transgressions <06588>– make that four <0702>!– I will not <03808> revoke <07725> my decree of judgment. They sold <04376> the innocent <06662> for silver <03701>, the needy <034> for <05668> a pair of sandals <05275>.
7They trample <07602> on <05921> the dirt-covered <0776> <06083> heads <07218> of the poor <01800>; they push <01870> the destitute <06035> away <05186>. A man <0376> and his father <01> go <01980> to <0413> the same girl <05291>; in this way they show disrespect <02490> for <04616> my moral <08034> purity <06944>.
8They stretch out <05186> on <05921> clothing <0899> seized as collateral <02254>; they do so right beside <0681> every <03605> altar <04196>! They drink wine <03196> bought <08354> with the fines <06064> they have levied; they do so right in the temple <01004> of their God <0430>!
9For Israel’s sake I <0595> destroyed <08045> the Amorites <0567>. They were as tall <01363> as cedars <0730> and as strong <02634> as oaks <0437>, but I destroyed <08045> the fruit <06529> on their branches <04605> and their roots <08328> in the ground <08478>.
10I <0595> brought <05927> you up <05927> from the land <0776> of Egypt <04714>; I led <01980> you through the wilderness <04057> for forty <0705> years <08141> so you could take <03423> the Amorites <0567>’ land <0776> as your own.
11I made <06965> some of your sons <01121> prophets <05030> and <0637> some of your young men <0970> Nazirites <05139>. Is this <02063> not <0369> true, you Israelites <03478> <01121>?” The Lord <03068> is speaking <05002>!
12“But you made the Nazirites <05139> drink <08248> wine <03196>; you commanded <06680> the prophets <05030>, ‘Do not <03808> prophesy <05012>!’
13Look <02009>! I <0595> will press <05781> you down <05781>, like <0834> a cart <05699> loaded down <05781> with grain <05995> presses down <04395>.
14Fast runners <04498> will find no place <06> to hide <07031>; strong <02389> men will have no <03808> strength <03581> left; warriors <01368> will not <03808> be able to save <04422> their lives <05315>.
15Archers <07198> <08610> will not <03808> hold their ground <05975>; fast <07031> runners <07272> will not <03808> save <04422> their lives <05315>, nor <03808> will those who ride <07392> horses <05483>.
16Bravehearted <03820> <0533> warriors <01368> will run away <05127> naked <06174> in that <01931> day <03117>.” The Lord <03068> is speaking <05002>!
