- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2023I got this slow feeder for my 15 pound Chihuahua mix. I find that it’s an adequate size but the water bowl is a bit smaller than we normally use but I found that my usual one fits in the compartment anyway.
I’m not positive that this slows her down because she now finds interest in this ‘food challenge’ I’ve given to her. I think eating out of it has increased her interest in her food bowl.
I feed her homemade wet food that fits inside all the crevices well and that’s where food takes her longest to get to. I wonder if they aren’t gulping more air with the way they need to lick at the bowl to get the food out.
I did notice that it does increase the time that she’s at her bowl but question the efficacy of combatting stomach upset. I will come back and make an edit if I find it to be more of a hindrance but overall, the product is simple in design, really easy to clean, the water bowl is a thin stainless steel and not very large, pleasant color and stays gripped to her mat without any suction.
I would have liked if it was more elevated but that’s a different type of product.
