:cherry_blossom: Hello hello it's Kachii (~^-^)~
It has been a while since I've made one of these long drawing blogs because I've been on a hiatus (still am).
:cherry_blossom: It's holidays here in Australia, which gave me some spare time to draw Levi for the AOT Season 2 hype ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ I've also drawn him last year around this time so I wanted to see if I've improved... let's hope that is the case :)
(Comparison of 2016 vs 2017 at the end of the blog!)
Let's dive straight into it!

Sorry there is no sketching process, as I wanted to focus more on colouring on this one •_•

Inking
Inking is usually straightforward, this one not being an exception- I ink the first layer with normal (thickness) lines, then go over places where lines connect with thicker inking to give more depth (?) idk it just looks better :-) I used a Copic Multiliner 0.1.
Afterwards, I erased the pencil marks from the sketch, which I did with the Prismacolour Col-Erase Blue pencil.

Colouring
I started with the base colour which are the lightest (E000, E00, E51, C3).
Usually when I colour skin with copic markers I usually go for the smooth look, where the shading is gradient and subtle. For this one, I tried to stick to the art style of the anime, so for the first time I tried this style of abrupt and sharp shading (honestly I was so scared to mess it up). (E04)
With a slightly darker shade of grey (C5) I added some subtle shading to the hair to set a guideline.
My C7 ran out, which was the next darker shade after C5 (from the colours I own), so I had to make do with C5 and black which was a pain -_- By blending the black and grey together, I added more texture and depth into the hair.
With black, I drew some more strands of hair to give texture a further boost.
With the colour I used for the abrupt shading of the face (E04), I blended some into the hair to bring the colours together *^*
Tip:
Try to blend a colour you've used in other parts of the drawing (eg. Subtle highlights in the hair with the colour you've used on the clothes or skin) to bring the colours together.
I shaded Levi's famous handkerchief(?) (correct me if I'm wrong I have no idea what it is :joy: ) and his shirt with my light shades of grey (C1, C3).
For the suit (as I've ran out of C7), I used my C5 and Black to blend it as much as possible, since the two colours were quite different. The eyes were coloured with the exact same colours~
Throughout the process I kept layering the E04 on the face and on the hair to make it more visible than subtle :)
Here, I thought very hard as to whether I should do a background or not, because previously I have ruined so many drawings by putting a background on it ;__;
"What's the worst that can happen?"
So I started a background carefully.
I remembered this figure of Levi I saw sitting on a red leather couch, somewhat like the one above (I'm pretty sure it was a different one though) so I was inspired by that for this back ground.
I ruled lines with a red pencil for rough guidelines, then went over them with a wine red colour (R59).
I put down a base colour and thought about how to make the diamonds all the same (with shading). I decided to colour it 'systematically' if that's how you call it XD
1) Roughly and lightly colour the whole diamond with the darkest red (R59).
2) Colour over that with a lighter, less saturated red (RV29).
3) With the dark red, colour the edges of the diamond to give dimension.
4) Colour the middle with the brightest red (R29)
5) Lastly add more dimension with the dark red, also blending it together.
Sorry for filling up half of the blog for a useless explanation on my 'systematical' way of colouring the background 0_o
Anyway,
Next, I added some more shading that I couldn't achieve with my markers with some cheap Faber-Castell pencils on Levi's suit.
Adding some final details with the black pencil and white gel pen (Uni-ball Signo), the drawing is complete :)
~FIN~
Hope you enjoyed *^*

Your welcome Bakachii >.< ♡
Where do you get those markers from??
Simply searching up 'copic markers' on google will get you thousands of websites that sell these markers- I got mine from an Australia-based website called The Art Shop. :)
Looks amazing :ok_hand: 🏻 :+1: 🏻
Thanks!
this is awesome  *tears of joy*
Wah~ >_< Thank you ^^
