Hello guys!
Today I'm writing a guide on Suction Bombs. I remember when I was making my sub guides a lot I had made 3/4 of the main bombs (Splat Bombs, Seekers, Burst Bombs.) Suction Bombs are the fourth, so I wanted to complete the series.
Here's a list of the other sub guides I've done:
Stats
Minimum Splash Damage: 30
Direct Hit Damage: 180
Duration: Explodes 2 seconds after put down
Sets: 8 (Berry Pro, Fresh Squiffer, H3, Hero Roller/Splat Roller, Mini Splatling, Octoshot/Tentatek, Rapid Deco, Splash O Matic.)
Description
Suction Bombs seem very similar to Splat Bombs at first. You throw one, and wait for it to explode, and if someone gets close, it kills. But Suction Bombs are very different from Splats. They stick to anything, of course, and take longer to explode. That adds a lot more to the gameplay than it seems like at first!
Strategies
Here I will list 3-4 strategies that will (hopefully) help improve your play with the bombs.
1: Sneaky Bomber
I made up stupid names for these 4 strategies just so it looks better. This strategy is where you put bombs where enemies can't see them, and try to splat your foes.
For example, if someone is standing on the main sniper's perch on Mahi-Mahi, you can put a bomb below them or beside them where they can't see it, and maybe splat them. Here's a few picture examples:
2: Bomb Stalling
This strategy is where you place a bomb when an enemy is coming towards you, to hopefully make them wait to attack you, or make them run away. I've seen this work really well in other instances I've had. You can also do this differently, by throwing a bomb behind you when running away.
3: Distraction Bombs
This is where you throw a bomb near a distracted/preoccupied enemy and try to splat them. This works sometimes because they're already busy. It can also still help if they get away from the bomb, because moving from the bomb could give somebody on your team an opening to attack.
4: Prediction Bombs
This is where you throw a bomb where you think an enemy will move, an hopefully get a splat. Example: if you think an enemy is going to take the Rainmaker, throw a bomb right there as they go to get it. They might grab it and die due to the maker's poor mobility.
Small Tips & Tricks
1: At the beginning of a match, it's always a good idea to throw a bomb right at mid, as everyone's coming there right now. You might get more than one splat!
2: Most people know this, but throwing a bomb at your feet when you know you're gonna die is sometimes very effective.
3: If you throw a bomb at an Inkstrike, it will explode right away, splatting nearby enemies.
4: Bombs on the Tower are very effective. But it's even better to throw them on the wall of the tower to get unexpected splats!
Helpful Abilities and Sets!
INK RECOVERY UP-
This is the only ink saving ability I'm recommending because I don't want to be cheap. I just think this is the best one for SBs. Ink Saver Sub and Ink Saver are sometimes hard to notice.
DAMAGE UP-
This ability improves the blast radius of the bombs and may increase 1HKOS. Seems useful to me!
DEFENSE UP-
Sometimes after placing bombs you are left vulnerable because of having less ink. This may let you survive some extra shots, flicks, or sloshes. That's very helpful when vulnerable.
Ok, now that we've gone over the good abilities, let's get to some sets I use with them.
Set 1:
Contents: 1 Main 1 Sub Defense Up, 3 Subs Damage Up, 1 Main 4 Subs Swim Speed, 1 Main Ink Recovery.
Explanation: This set works really well for the main weapon itself, and benefits Suction Bombs as well. Defense Up, Damage, and Swim Speed have always been good abilities for the Octoshot, so that's another reason why they're here. They also help the sub weapon.
Set 2:
Contents: 1 Main 4 Subs Swim Speed, 2 Mains Ink Recovery, 3 Subs Special Charge Up, 2 Subs Defense Up.
Explanation: This set comes with a boat load of IR, and that's because the main weapon uses up a lot of ink anyways, so it's very helpful. The swim speed will always be helpful, and the special charge is very good for Suction Rush weapons. There's also just a little bit of Defense, just in case you need it.
Set 3:
Contents: 1 Main 4 Subs Swim Speed, 1 Main 1 Sub Defense Up, 1 Main 4 Subs Damage Up.
Explanation: Like I said before, Swim Speed is good on any weapon. The Defense is good for weapons like the Roller where you get very aggressive, and that's also with the perk of it helping the use of Suction Bombs. The Damage Up is good for both bombs and the Roller.
Best and Worst Maps
Best - Moray Towers
Bombs are good here because the pathways are so narrow that people can't really escape them. Also, there are lots of walls and ledges to place sneaky bombs on.
Best - Port Mackerel
The linear halls are good for catching people with this sub. Stalling and is made easy here. The only problem is that it's kind of hard to place sneaky bombs.
Best - Walleye Warehouse
In mid, the U tower is very helpful to place bombs on. There's also lots of walls for sneaky bombs, and it's pretty good for stalling.
Worst - Piranha Pit
I feel like this map is too open and flat for bombs to really work here. You can see where most bombs are, and stalling doesn't really work because of how big this map is.
Worst - Saltspray Rig
You can actually place sneaky bombs pretty well here, but stalling is kind of hard, and this map is pretty wide open (in mid).
Conclusion
Thank you for reading my Suction Bombs guide! If you have questions, or comments, please tell me in the comments section. This post was kind of a resurrection of my old series, I hope you liked it!
Also, at the time I'm writing this, I have 599 followers, but I want to go ahead and thank you guys for 600 now! It's really great (and weird :relieved: ) to have that people!

I can't believe you made a guide on this lol
Happy 607 followers! :D
Thank you :D
Damage up is a really great addition to a Rapid Blaster's Set, since you can get 2 shot splats with two indirect hit. Noice guide!

I try to only use Octobrush in RM and SZ, Tower Control doesn't really work for it. Yesterday I played TC with it and lost 4 won 2. Never again.

I only play sz when it's mahi+blackbelly, and I never play moray/hammerhead rm. yea, I'm pretty strict lol

I used to do awesome with the Octobrush Nouveau in Rainmaker. After using it for so long, I had to switch to a different weapon!
