What is R6?
R6 is a first person shooter game released in December of 2015 by Ubisoft created for the Tom Clancy's series. R6 is a team based shooter game meaning you need to have just the right plan in hopes to succeed. The game has no storyline but features a few matches that can be played solo, has competitive, and then allows you to fight against either other players or bots. You take role as either an attack your defender in different modes such as hostage and bomb defusing.
Operators
Operators are the various different characters you get the opportunity to play as within the game. You'll start out with one operator when you get the game. To get more, you must to solo missions, multiplayer, or competitive to receive the money to buy another. DLC operators will cost much more than regular operators. Each operator has a different ability (for example, Blitz having a shield to blind people) and are customizable (but not too much).
Roles
There are 2 roles you can play as within the game: Attack and Defense. You will not choose a role, they will be randomly chosen at the staff of the match. But after each round (win or lose) the teams will switch their roles unless the match is in over time. For example, attackers will have to try to rescue the hostage while defenders have to prevent them from the rescue.
Modes
Assuming you've managed to read this far, you will now be introduced to the various modes within R6.
Secure Area
Secure area is a multiplayer mode where the defenders must protect a biohazard container while the attackers must attempt to hold off in the same room as it. The match will end when either all the enemy teammates are killed, time runs out, or when the attackers can capture the point successfully.
Hostage
A multiplayer mode where the defenders must defend a hostage while the attackers break in and try to rescue/capture him/her. The round will end when one of the teams accidentally kills the hostage, time runs out, or the hostage is successfully captured.
Bomb
A multiplayer mode to where the attackers have a task of locating and defusing two bombs while the defenders prevent the defusing. The defenders must find and destroy the defuser once it is placed. The round will end when all members of a team have died, the bomb has been defused, or time runs out.
Terrorist Hunt
Either a solo or multiplayer mode for 5 players at max. You take on the role of either an attacker or a defender and you have to either do one of the modes above while attacking or defending from a wave of terrorists.
Situations
Situations are solo only (expect the final one) and are made solely to introduce new players to the game mechanics and controls. You can also earn money by doing them.
Tactical Realism
Tactical realism is a variation of the multiplayer mode to make the game more difficult. This game mode puts heavier emphasis on team work, strategy, and makes the game much more realistic. This mode removes most of the HUD, the ability to mark your opponents, the ability to see your teammates through walls, but adds a much more realistic ammo system.
Operations
Operations are game updates that often add or remove a feature. Most operations have added DLC characters. For example, the "Black Ice" operation added two Canadian DLC characters into the game.

My opinions on R6?
If you're into realistic FPS games then this one is definitely worth the mention. If you're more into games like Overwatch, you'll probably like R6 as well as the operators all have a unique ability to use in combat. Overall I'd say the game is very well made in terms of graphics and gameplay. My only problem is that many people tend to take the competitive side too seriously so you might want to be above level 100 if you're ready to try that. I rate the game 10/10 personally.
