Hey, everyone, this is The_SynchroGuy, and I am here to share with you my experience at YCS Fort Worth!
Let me just say, I had a great time. This was the first time I ever traveled to another state for a Yugioh event. Well, actually it was my second time, but this was the first time I did it for a YCS. Plus, I've never been to Texas before, so it was a good first time. Very humid though. Like holy cow, I could easily tell the difference after I got back home.
Anyway though, it was awesome getting to take part in another YCS. There were over 1,300 people at this event! And there were a lot of YugiTubers too. Now I didn't get to see all of them, but I met my good friend Alex Cimo. Along with: Nyhmnim, Dezeef, Farfa, and Team APS.
I didn't get a chance to take a picture with all of them, but it was still really cool to get to meet them. (Love your content, everyone! Keep up the good work! :+1: )
Now you may be wondering how I did at the tournament. Well some of you already know, but here's exactly how everything went down. (Did my best to write down everything that happened in my matches.) And for this event, I played Rokkets!
With the Guardragons.
(Hate me if you must, but I like the deck like this.)
Round 1: Pure Orcust
Game 1: He went first and ended his turn with the Orcust Trap set, but used the Orcustrated Return to send his Longirsu and draw 2. Only monster he had left was Dingirsu. On my turn, he Ash Blossomed my first card, which was okay because I had some other cards. I did my combo and ended with an Archfiend Abyss, Borrelsword and Furious Dragon. That was pretty much game. (It was later revealed he had an Infinite Impermanence in hand, but he forget to set it. Rip. )
Game 2: He went first again, but only set 2 backrow. I attempted to Twin Twister them, but then he revealed Imperial Order. After that, we were both just top decking, hoping to get the cards we need. I maintain control with just my Gateway Dragon and attacked into him when I could. Eventually, his LP become so low that Imperial Order was going to destroy itself during my next Standby Phase, so he conceded from there.
Record: X-0
Round 2: Endymion Magician
Game 1: I went first and set up a good board with Hieratic Seal, Furious Dragon and a set Super Poly. Though it probably would've been better had I not drawn by Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. I did my best to disrupt him. Made a mistake where I should've activated Super Poly when I activated Seal's effect and I could've whipped his field of all his monsters. By the end of it, we both had nothing. I could've done something, but none of the cards in my hand could help me. Eventually, he attacked me for game.
Game 2: I went first and opened with Darkness Metal Dragon again. I mean, it's a good card, but it's something I don't want to see in my opening hand. I ended my turn with a Borreload and a Furious Dragon. On his turn, he activated Dark Ruler No More, bounced my Furious Dragon with Vortex Dragon and destroyed my Borreload with Savage Dragon via battle. And he had Secret Village of the Spellcasters active. Nothing I could do.
Record: X-1
Round 3: HERO
Game 1: I couldn't do much, so I set a monster and passed. He went full combo and otked me.
Game 2: I went first again, but all I could was summon a Rokket Tracer, set 3 and pass, but I set a Super Poly and 2 Called by the Grave. He made a play then activated Twin Twister against 2 of my backrow. Luckily, they were both my Called bys and I chain one of them; banishing the Vision HERO Increase he discarded, and I chained Rokket Tracer to my Called by to summon Magnarokket.
He continued with his turn and attempted to attack me with a Dark Law, Stratos, and Vision HERO Varis. When he did, I activated Super Poly and went into Starving Venom, using his Dark Law and Varis. He still destroyed my Tracer, but that was all he could do at that point. On my next turn, I attacked him for game.
Game 3: He had me go first and I opened up with dream combo of Archfiend Abyss, Savage Dragon, and Borreload, with a Silverrokket on field. I then used Borreload's effect to trigger Silverrokket's effect and banish a card from his Extra Deck. I chose to banish the Starving Venom, with the assumption that he is running Super Poly, so I wanted to avoid that.
On his turn, he tried to do some things, and I used Abyss to negate one of his cards. Later, he summoned some monsters and then used Super Poly! (I knew it!) He used my Savage Dragon and his monster to make Mudragon of the Swamp. Wasn't anything much, but I am so glad I hit that Starving Venom! He later passed turn and I won on my next turn.
Record: X-1
Round 4: Lunalight Orcust
Game 1: I went into my full combo board, and so did he, but he only managed to get rid of my Borreload with Dingirsu. I was able to keep my Abyss and Savage Dragon. But he had the Orcust Trap set and one other set card along with a Galatea. On my next turn, I had to play around those cards, but he did allow me to use some cards that ended up with me getting a Tracer and Silverrokket on board. I then attacked into his monsters and got rid of them. He conceded from there. And he actually could've stopped me a bit with Gizmek Orochi, but forgot to activate it.
Game 2: He went full combo. Made Outer Entity Azathot to stop stuff like Nibiru (which I was siding, but I didn't see it). He then made stuff like Abyss Dweller and Tornado Dragon, but still made Galatea and set the Trap. I couldn't do anything against it
Game 3: I bricked pretty hard. I drew into: World Legacy Guardragon, Boot Sector Launch, Borrel Regenarator, Called by the Grave, and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. Cards were good, I just didn't have the right cards needed to do a play. I set a Called by and passed. He attempted to go for the combo, but I stopped him with my Called by the Grave. He passed and on my next turn I drew into Terraforming. Not helpful, so my opponent was able to redo his combo and game me.
Record: X-2
Round 5: Darklord Lair of Darkness
Game 1: I went into my combo board, but then got Super Polyed, and he used 3 of my 4 Dragons for that new Predaplant Fusion Monster! I couldn't come back from that.
Game 2: Went full combo again, but summoned Furious Dragon this time in case I get Super Polyed again, and luckily he didn't have Super Poly. Instead, he kind of bricked by opening with all 3 copies of Monster Gate. He managed to summon 2 Diabolos, but there wasn't really anything he could do against my 3 Borreloads.
Game 3 : He went first, didn't see what he wanted, set some cards and passed. My turn, he used Full Force Virus calling Spells, I chained Quick Launch to it, since it is a Quick-Play Spell, got out Rokket Tracer. I lost all of my Spells in hand, but still had a Rokket and Absorouter in hand, so I summoned them both and started attacking him. He later conceded.
Record: X-2
Round 6: Subterror Guru
Game 1: Made a misplay and tried to go for Hieratic seal, after using Rokket Synchron's effect. He quickly took that game.
Game 2: I had a really good hand, but he had a negate for everything. He evened Ghost Belled my Called By the Grave! :scream:
I tried to hold on, but I made some more misplays, and he was able to negate some of my other plays. Nothing else I could do.
Record: X-3
Round 7: Orcust
Game 1: He manged to stop me with some hand traps. He then went full Orcust combo and otked me.
Game 2: Same as before, he had hand traps to stop me and I was left with a Rokket Tracer on board. I had a Super Poly and set it, but made the misplay of not setting another card from my hand. He then summoned Dark Grepher by discarding Danger! Thunderbird and targeted my set Poly, so I was forced to activate it and go into Starving Venom. He still went full Orcust combo and outed my Venom with ease. There was nothing I can do.
Record: X-4 (dropped)
Yeah, after that last lost, I decided to drop because I knew was not going to make it far. Oh well, I did my best, manage to secure some wins, and I didn't have anyone drop Nibiru on me. Don't get them wrong, some of them ran Nibiru, but they never opened with it. Same thing can be said about me.
Still though, like I said at the beginning, I had a fun time at this event. A lot of my opponents were really nice. Manage to get some laughs from them, helped one better understand my deck a bit better, was able to do some trades with some people, and there was a girl going around selling some Field Centers, that I believe, she made. (And some of them had certain pictures I know some gentlemen would've liked to get.) So yeah, it was a fun time.
Oh, and after being on this Amino for over 3 years, I finally met someone from here, in person! And that person was none other than Nod.
Nod, it was really great to meet you, and thanks again for the trades! Gonna try to put them to good use. :+1:
Nothing really much I can say here. It was a fun time, got a chance to see a bit of Texas with my own eyes for once, and I got to meet some cool people. Also, I'll post a deck profile of my Rokket deck later this week, so look out for that!
I'll see you guys in the next one! Hope you have/had an awesome day that! :+1:

I know I've already said it a million times in the general chat so sorry for repetition but are ya going to YCS Atlanta? It would be fun to meet up? Maybe duel?

Is there going to be another one next year? Because the one for this year already happened.

I'd assume there'd be one in 2020 and that's my plan
Reply to: YEET
If there is, I'll see if I can go to it.
It was 45 minutes away but I would fail first round anyway

That's understandable. Sorry if I made it sound like that you should've gone. I'm just letting you know that there are other ways to have fun besides the main tournament. And take your time with catching up.

Oh no you didn’t sound persuading. I just don’t have the cards. And I never understood how they trade thing works here anyway.

Trading online is a bit tricky, but I believe there should be a chat or something that helps with trading on here.
Taking pure rokkets (with guard dragons) to a Ycs and doing fairly well... you sir are my hero :+1: :fist:
YCS Vegas let go
didn’t know you were in fort worth
