So many great features! Easy to assemble. Very nice that it has an auto-shutoff when the bucket gets full, and it's easy to empty. It comes with a hose if you want to set it up so that it constantly drains though, so maybe we'll do that eventually. I also really like the pre-programmed room settings (ie: we have this running in our basement, and use the "basement" setting - nice that you don't have to think about it!). Must be working, b/c we have to empty this thing once a day!

Got this to combat mildew that we found in the basement bedroom. Very easy to set up and use, and was very effective - I bought the 50 pint model and the bucket was full after 4-5 hours, and dropped my humidity level from about 50-55% to usually around 30%. I used it in the summer and fall in northern VA when levels creeped up to the mid 40s, which worked out to about every other day. I will note I measured with a separate hygrometer, the readings on the unit varied by several percentage points and were always lower than what the hygrometer read.

I may have gotten lucky with my unit and didn't have any leakage issues (knock on wood), I did monitor it constantly when I first purchased, and hedged with towels and a tray underneath, since our basement was carpeted. I think the 50 pint was the perfect size for us, the bucket is pretty heavy when full.

Hopefully this will hold up for seasons to come, will update if I ever find otherwise.

UPDATE: summer 2019 - unit broke. Compressor would kick in, but the coils wouldn't cool down. it's useless now.

This unit removes lots of moisture from my damp basement, and keeps it at a solid 55% humidity in the middle of summer. It's pretty quiet and doesn't bother the people in the room at all. The big problem is that when you empty the tank, residual water drips out of the humidifier and splashes all of the floor. I have to keep a towel nearby to clean up the mess. When I get around to draining directly into a condensate pump, the problem will go away, but for now it's annoying in an otherwise good design.

Not this time. 8 months after purchase, and this unit has been running for 2 months without a drop of water in the bucket. We'll see how well the warranty service works.
I have another unit (bigger, 70 pint) that I paid less for, that has been running constant for 7 years in my basement with no problems whatsoever. I wanted the smaller unit for a bathroom on the far side of the basement. Guess I picked the wrong one.
EDIT: I found out how well Black and Deckers warranty service works. lol. I contacted them by email, they referred me to a company called "spectrumbrands" who purchased their appliance division in 1999. I emailed spectrumbrands, who replied without answering my question of warranty service, so I called them. they told me they only deal with kitchen aplliances, and that Black and decker deals with dehumidifiers in their "power tool" division. I went back to Black and decker, and got on a live chat with a Rep, who directed me to a company called "homestar". they are the company that deals with dehumidifiers. I called the number they gave me, and homestar told me they do not deal with ANY black and decker products. (round and round we go.) I went BACK to Black and decker live chat, and was told by a different Rep that I was misled. I need to contact a company called "serviceappliance". Finally.......serviceappliance took my information, and asked me to email the receipt and other vital information to "Equitybrands.com". Thats where I am today. We'll see if this actually gets resolved for me. EDIT: well, over 2 weeks in, and as I expected, no help on warranty service. I called the company, they took my info, and I emailed my receipt like they asked.. After more than a week, I called again, and was told it would be "escalated" and I should expect a call within a day. No call. 3 days later, I tried to call 2 more times, and got voice mail both times. left messages, but no return calls. Typical.
SECOND EDIT: Dropped to 1 star, only because I couldn't go lower...Received a replacement, Brand new unit from Equitybrands On 5/8/19. Today is 11/30/19, and second unit has failed. My other unit, (a cheaper, off-brand) is still running strong, nearly 8 years now. I'm finished with Black and Decker. I will contact the manufacturer yet again, and ask for a full or partial refund this time. I don't want the aggravation of replacing the unit again and again.

Upon purchasing this item, unboxing and remotely controlled powering on this item has a misting system that has amazed me right from the start. I set my humidity level digitally and upon reaching that parameter above or below performed without an issue. Ideally I recommend this product along with it’s commercially grade added warranty in which I chose for 4 years choosing this item has made my life easy peasy.

This dehumidifier ended being the best deal for a 50pint system. Here are my thoughts:

    The good:
    -looks great
    -good operation control features
-mostly quiet (see below why "mostly")
-definitely gets more humidity out of the air than my old 25pint

    The bad:
    - seems to be built cheaply,my old fridgaire was built like a tank
-although generally quiet, sometimes it runs louder, not sure why. Definitely a quality of build issue
    - tank to empty water not as easy to handle and empty.

Conclusion: I will keep this dehumidifier because it works well and also because I spent ~$14 on a 2year warranty on Amazon. With the warranty it was still $50 less than the next quality dehumidifier. I would only recommend buying with warranty as I am concerned whether it will last 2years. I really love the control features and the look of this unit and it gets the moisture out fast.

I will update this if my opinion changes.
