I am not sure what to say about this piece since it is just a single piece of (plastic?) that sits on my desk and holds my laptop at what seems to be a much better angle than having the laptop sit flat. Gravity holds the laptop securely in place and it is no problem to take the laptop off the stand -- it takes longer to disconnect the cables I have attached. I appreciate the simplicity and effectiveness of the design.
I have a standing desk and my arrangement is a laptop on the left with a monitor on the right and an external keyboard + trackpad on the lower level. This stand holds my open laptop at a height and an angle that matches that of the other monitor, which is supposed to decrease strain and prevent the need for you to constantly look "down" at the laptop screen.
It is nice in that it raises my laptop off the desk a bit and allows me to use the space under the laptop for storage if I need it.
For what it is worth, you don't really need this if you keep your laptop closed and just use the external display. Also, it would be difficult to use the keyboard and trackpad/touchpad on an open laptop if it were on this stand, so you really need to have the correct setup for this to be useful to you.
