Band Started to Break, USB Port Bending, Bracelet Didn't Latch Well -- LASTED SIX MONTHS

Band Started to Break, USB Port Bending, Bracelet Didn't Latch Well -- LASTED SIX MONTHS
UPDATE: I've bumped this up from one star to three -- I would have given it a four because I finally heard from them and they were great about replacing it. I would have given a four instead of a five because of the lag time and overall stress involved in getting our issue addressed but like another reviewer said they might have been in transition (they're rolling out a new Gameband watch on Kickstarter and have a new support desk).I've changed my review to a three only because the new Gameband dies regularly within a day, no low battery warning, and resets when we charge it. It usually goes a few days before needing a charge and you usually get a warning, so it's useless as a watch now because it can't make it through a school day. My kid is the best ambassador of this just the same -- he loves it -- and I appreciate that the company is being responsive. But it's taken some time and still at the end of the day we have something that's glitchy. That all being said, and keeping this in perspective, it's a $30 item. Not chump change but not an Apple Watch either. I think if you can get a year's worth out of it it would be worth it but so far we haven't hit that mark yet. I'll update again if there are any changes.Originally posted: We are VERY disappointed after having tried to contact the company several times (with receipts, pictures, emails) to show them how after only 6 months the band was starting to break and the USB port was bending. Nothing. It got to be so loose that my son was holding it together with Scotch tape! So I suppose it was only a matter of time before he lost it, which he did a couple days ago (I had started contacting the company last month).I waited to leave this review but seeing how they haven't responded AT ALL and the Gameband is now officially gone, I can say that we are not happy with this company. The product was great while it lasted but we got six months only out of it and my son is so upset I'd almost rather he never had it. His teacher and the whole school spent the afternoon looking for it. Very frustrating as this could have been avoided if it was better made or if the company had responded and replaced the faulty band when I first contacted him.I would have considered buying this as Christmas gifts if I felt I could count on the company. Now I can only say that if you get it, be prepared for your child to have some heartbreak or frustrating after six months.

This thing is amazing. It integrates Java after the first use, It integrates any and all minecraft files, and even comes built with many of the popular modpack launchers! There seems to be some confusion as to what the "Full Version" vs "Demo Version" of minecraft actually are in the questions section here. Yes this band comes with a completely functioning minecraft executable. The only thing you need to have to play the "Full Version" is a minecraft account(Purchased Separately).

Beware, despite being connected over USB 3.0 there is still some inherent lag. Even though USB 3.0 has transfer speeds that rival that of SSDs It's the initialization of each new transfer that bottlenecks in USB 3.0. This causes the game to have some latency issues. I would rate the performance somewhere slower than minecraft played on a normal hard drive and faster than minecraft played on an online multiplayer server. The latency issues from the band are somewhat different that normal multiplayer lag though. Sometimes the flash drive "sleeps" (in a way) so that if you have not broken a block in a while you get a short few seconds where your block breaking isn't doing anything while it "wakes up" the flash drive to write your newly broken blocks to the world save.

Also if you plan to play some of the bigger modpacks, like a lot of what feed the beast has to offer, Expect some pretty serious slowdowns. It's still playable over USB 3.0 but these modpacks will be nearly impossible to play over USB 2.0.

It sucks that this little thing is limited by modern technology from being a perfect device but it works fantastically for Vanilla Minecraft and I highly recommend it for anyone who is on more than one computer with their minecraft worlds. The creators truly did everything humanly possible to make this thing the most amazing flash drive you will ever play minecraft from and with the cloud backup you never have to loose another minecraft world! I know I've lost many of them.

I would give this 2.5 stars. I bought two of these, one for each of my sons, for their birthdays. The idea is really neat that they can take their Minecraft worlds with them, and the Pixel Furnace app is really easy to use to personalize the pictures that scroll across the band. My youngest son loved his and wore it almost every day.
As great as I initially thought it was, I now have issues with it:
-First, it was a little annoying because I would plug it into his computer to charge it when it died, but most of the time when I would unplug it the time was incorrect and I would have to plug it in 1-2 more times, open the Pixel Furnace app, and eject it again to correct the time.
-Second, after a month of my son wearing his, it will no longer work when not plugged into the computer. It shows the charging icon when plugged in, but when unplugged the screen no longer works which leads me to believe there is something wrong with the battery, and of course there is no way to replace the battery.
-Third, I am frustrated because I contacted the company about the issue of it no longer working and have heard nothing back from them. Apparently they don't stand by their product and now I have a disappointed little boy and a piece of junk. At least I didn't spend $80 on it or I'd be steaming mad.

Edited 11/18/16: Changed to one star, our other Game Band is now exhibiting the same issue.

As a longtime Minecraft player, this band is something neat that caught my eye one day so I picked it up to keep in my daily bag in case I wanted to play. Overall the software is neat, you can add your own custom animations to the LED display, they offer a free year of cloud backups for your worlds that you save on the band so that is something good to have in case you either lose it or it suddenly breaks. Loading times are a bit slower than a laptop, but not much. Transfer speeds are typical for USB 3.0.

Only issues are that the max capacity of this band is 8GB, which for the most part won't be a problem, but I have large worlds from servers I used to play on that I would have liked to carry, but they are around 4GB each so I can only have one with me at a time. Also there is some inconsistencies with how long the band holds a charge, I've had it go dead after a week with only sitting in my bag, and other times I left it in there for a couple months and it lights right up when hitting the button.

We bought this for our 11 year old son and he loved it when he saw the box and put it on. We have now spent all day on Christmas trying to sign up. I did read there was an update so I installed it. It still won't accept his sign in and we can't get it to anything. I tried emailing support, only to find out that the company no longer exists and only has a website where I found the update. They have FAQ's, but nothing is working. So. I will be sending this amazing gift that doesn't work, back.

Update: I emailed them very upset and someone nice for in touch with me. They have me detailed instructions on how to fix it. My son now uses this all the time! Thank you!

I absolutely adore this band I love it, it fits perfect, It is sleek and modern, The watch and date are incredibly helpful! If you have a kid who loves Minecraft and you have no clue what to get them, This is the answer to your problem, the only problem is cost. It comes in a fancy box with a cute Minecraft Redstone on it. Also, comes with a Minecraft gameband sticker. The only cons would be Price and if you put it on wrong it can pinch your skin and hurt. Otherwise, I would greatly recommend!
