An investment in yourself!
Doctor’s visits, lost time at work, and the lessened quality of life due to preventable illness all add up to a significant sum of time and money.
This book is an investment in yourself! What could be better than that? Your health, happiness, and life depend on it!
There's no question walking is good for you.
Think about the tortoise and the hare. When you take a long-term view of the benefits of walking for health and fitness, you’ll see it makes sense to slow yourself down and to continue to walk for fitness to stay healthy well into old age.
Also, let me show you how to get in shape after 50.
The book is organized into 4 sections:
- Getting Started
- Basic Training
- Beyond the Basics
- Mindset
Don’t become a statistic!
- Health care costs steadily increase with body mass
- Obesity is one of the biggest drivers of preventable chronic diseases
- Heart disease and stroke cost America nearly $1 billion a day
- Low back pain has a major economic impact with total costs related to this condition exceeding $100 billion per year.
Your Next Step:
You must decide right now not to become a statistic. You have it within yourself to take control of your health!
After a back injury forced me out of work for four months, I began walking for exercise as a way to get in shape.
Being out in the fresh air, feeling the rhythmic movement of the walking stride, and using walking meditations to get deeper into my thoughts with a walking meditation.
As a walker I've:
- Slowed down and improved my mindset
- Done Walking meditation
- Listen and absorbed audiobooks
- Take pictures
- Recorded my thoughts into my iPhone
- Looked forward to my walks
Also, I supercharge my walk with bodyweight exercises and I've used walking to lose weight!
In contrast, when I was a runner and worked out at the gym I’d have to get myself psyched up just to get out the door and I usually used the little annoyances in life as an excuse to not work out.
Walking has worked wonders in my life so let me show you how to get in shape and use walking for exercise to improve your health and fitness.
Discover how to get in shape the easy way.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2020I've been walking for many years when the weather is nice; not to hot, not to cold, if it doesn't rain, if I'm in the mood, etc, etc. My motivation shifts like a leaf in the wind. This fitness walking program is different because it gives instructions for working out as I'm walking. For instance, I used to just walk. That's walk you do when you walk, right? You walk. Boring!!! Now when I walk I stop every mile or so to do leg stretches or push ups on a wall. Because I had double knee surgery I can't get up from the ground like you young people can. However, I can do the workouts at home and I do. It's very motivating to come home from my walk and feel good and have more energy.
Frank explains in detail how fitness walking increases your strength and endurance.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2022If you are new to walking for fitness this book will provide all the basics to get you started and keep you motivated. It’s a bit repetitious at times but the author is an enthusiastic proponent of walking and offers numerous tips to keep your walks fun and interesting. It appears he also has a website which I have not visited yet.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2019This book is filled with great information! The fitness center where I was a member for several years, just closed down. Although I hadn’t been consistent with attending workout sessions recently, my goal was to get back into a routine again. Walking for Health and Fitness has provided me with a way to exercise that’s free and easy to do. Frank Ring is so knowledgeable. I highly recommend reading his book and taking his advice to improve your health and well-being!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2022Great tips in here. Kinda dragged on things I didn’t need help on like what shoes to wear or clothes but other than that good statistic and very informative. Very good for beginners.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2019Walk for Health and Fitness was informative and encouraging when describing the physical and mental health benefits of walking. The book was clearly researched and evidenced based. It points out the little, easy things that we can do on a daily basis to help stay healthy and well. I would definitely recommend reading it for anyone who has interest in bettering their life!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2022I have read a few other books on walking and this one is the best of them so far. And for you veterans it teaches way more than the left right left technique we all learned in boot camp
- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2019Easy to read; very informative and great help to get myself and my parents! motivated to walk for health and fitness!!!!! Must read!!!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2023Save your money. Summery: sitting is bad, walking is good, go to my website and buy stuff and don't forget to go to my social media pages to like, share and subscribe. I didn't really need the author to tell me to take my house key with me when I go for a walk.
Cheers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book, but follow on support by author amazing
I have recently developed a massive love of walking during lockdown, and now cannot go a day without a getting out amongst recently discovered roads, tracks and byeways. This book is quite basic and sometimes repetitive, but really inspiring and informative. I dip into it whenever I need a bit of motivation to get out and walk. The best thing, though, is that you can sign up to the newsletter and get daily emails and downloads that keep you enthused. For a small outlay you get a great package

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing!
Very disappointing. Most of the book is filled with waffle. The author constantly directs you to his web site in order to find information that should be included in the book and isn't. Not recommended.
