My first purchase was lost by the package carrier. Called Amazon and got a refund minus tax. I had shopped around comparing different ropes at this price point, and liked that this was listed as tangle free. I decided to try buying it again (delivered in less than a week) because of the good reviews.
The rope comes in its own carrying case, pre-assembled, and tied in a circle. Make note of which direction the notch on the handle is facing for reassembly later. Undo the rope, and appreciate that it doesn't coil AT ALL. YUUUSSS!
The bag also comes with instructions that include a guide of suggested rope lengths according to your height. I followed their suggestion. The handles came up to my armpits--which is where I like it. Use good wire cutters to trim the end, so there isn't any fraying.
The handles, like other reviewers mentioned, are thin. I have no problems with this. I skip rope for boxing. Only the weighted handle jump ropes have thick handles. At this price point, the handles of boxing speed ropes are equally thin, plastic, and usually without swivel handles. If slightly thicker, it's because they are covered in a foamy padding.
The Synergee handles have a nice weight (a sturdy, well built feeling not heavy) and a really nice grip. The grip isn't a foam that will deteriorate with sweat, it's more like the anti-slip tape you put on stairs. Hope that doesn't put you off--I really like it. My hands get super wet and clammy from being wrapped, gloved, and existing in the humid Texas coast heat.
All in all I feel great care and attention was given to designing this rope. For under $20 they could have used cheaper foam, had no swivels, and used pure plastic rope (rather than wire encased in plastic).
My only issue is that it moved a little fast for me (as advertised lol). I had already worked out and my feet were clumsy. Since it's a thinner rope, it can be hard to hear it hit the ground for jump cues. Practice makes perfect, however.
