We purchased this along with a bag of gems as a rewards system for our Autistic 9 year old. Each time our daughter does something that's asked of her (her homework, taking her medication, going to bed on time), she gets a gem. Once she gets 20 gems, she gets something special of her choosing. If she's misbehaving, she loses one. This method has worked amazingly and she loves the gems so much because they remind her of chaos emeralds (she's a huge Sonic the Hedgehog fan and even lets her plus Sonic help her put her gem in her treasure chest).She loves her mini treasure chest, but I do want to point out a few flaws in it for others that are purchasing this.First, the latch on the front is crooked. While it is a wooden box, it's a little cheaply made and there's not much depth to it so you aren't going to fit much in it.

    It will make a great gift box next Christmas! All wood and metal components seemed quality to me. Just getting an item that looks like the advertised picture is going a long way these days. The little latch on the front is functional and worked perfectly. It was just the right size for my needs. I very pleasing item if I might only say so myself! I would say this compares favorably with other such products here on Amazon, and I like variety, so I ordered from several sources here. The price was right on all of them, and I was satisfied with every one of them! I am actually surprised, when you look at something like this which is essentially just a cheap child's toy! I would take it more seriously than that! It would probably make a nice keepsake or jewelry box.

    Purchased these for a pirate treasure hunt .. they are tiny... about 4 or 5" long by about 3" wide... about 3" deep - eyeballing. They are super cheap. One of the boxes won't stay closed. Total junk. Worth about $2. In my opinion. The metal closures are very dingy - in the photos they look bright and clean. As long as you're expecting a box worth about $2 - and you don't mind if they don't close, you'll be ok. I would not recommend these.

    After opening it, the latch won't close without a lot of fussing around with it, and lining it up perfectly... which is difficult to do since the top and bottom parts of the latch are misaligned. There's glue all over the outside where trim pieces were attached. The nails holding parts of it together are obvious and ineffective, given that parts of trim are pulling away from the body of the box.
