About this item

  • Roasted Maple Neck and Roasted Mahogany Body:Roasted maple neck provides excellent stability and gorgeous caramel finish. The mahogany wood used for the body was also roasted for stronger mids and slightly lighter weight.
  • Bone Nut:Bone is a harder natural material and it has been favored by many luthiers for higher-end instruments due to its sustain and natural lubricating property.
  • Hand Polished Stainless Steel Frets:Stainless steel frets provide unrivaled durability and smooth playing surface for nice and easy big bends. Each fret ends are also hand-dressed for playing comfortability.
  • U to C Compound Neck Profile and Compound Radius: SSS has a unique U to C compound neck profile with a thicker shoulder on the lower frets, slowly tapers down to a slimmer C to higher frets. Along with a 7.25” to 9.5” compound fingerboard radius, SSS provides excellent playability for both chording and soloing.

Well packaged and visually stunning!
5 out of 5 stars
Well packaged and visually stunning!
This guitar arrived very well packaged as I tried to show from the photo. There was an outside card board box, and a molded Styrofoam insert containing the guitar. The guitar was then placed in a plastic bag with the strings encased in a light plastic wrapper. There were no blemishes, scratches or any type of defective workmanship on the guitar. The body has a satin finish, and there seems to be a slight glossy finish to the fretboard. The description of the wood used is roasted mahogany for the body and roasted maple for the neck. However, the neck does not look “roasted” as all the roasted maple necks I’ve seen (including one of my other guitars) are darker in color. It still may very well be roasted if Eart has a process to roast maple without a color change. The neck is on the thin side, very different that any of my other Strats, but very comfortable. I was curious about this brand after seeing numerous reviews. This is an amazing guitar for $188! The stainless steel frets have not fret sprout (as did my Les Paul and one of my Strats before I smoothed them down). To me, a Strat shaped body is the most comfortable of all guitar shapes. This Eart has all the right contours, plus an extra indentation on the back treble side by the neck joint. I assume they designed it to give the player better fret access. However, a better design feature to accomplish this would have been to round off the heel joint. A few of my Fender guitars have this feature and it is provides better access to the higher frets than the indentation on the Eart. This guitar is still a joy to play. Bending a string is effortless due to the stainless steel frets. The tuners are very nice, and the tremolo block is full size with 3 springs attached. One reviewer said the tuners, tremolo, and saddles are Korean made (denoting a higher quality), and they all work well. Tremolo bar is a pop in (different than any of my other Strats), and works well without any tuning issues. I don’t use a whammy bar much in my playing, so I usually leave it off, but with the ease of just popping it on, I may use it more. The strings feel like 9’s and I will change then to 10’s on my first string change. I’ll then remove the pickguard to see how the inside is routed. Also curious to see how 10’s effect tuning stability. The pickguard is a mint green, which I like, but that is a matter of personal taste. The pickups kind of sound like a Strat; definitely a hum cancelling “quack” in the 2 and 4 position. I always wanted to try a Strat style guitar made from mahogany. The pickups may sound a bit warmer due to the mahogany. However, I feel they are weakest part of the guitar for me. I plan to drop in humbuckers to make this guitar different from my other Strats. Here are the resistances in Ohms for this Eart with a few other guitar pickups for comparison.Eart Texas Specials 1995 USA StratPosition 1 bridge: 5.36 6.42 7.18Position 2 Bridge and middle: 2.7 3.18 5.93Position 3 middle: 5.2 6.14 5.96Position 4 middle and neck: 2.7 3.05 5.98Position 5 neck: 5.26 5.93 5.98In conclusion, this is a great guitar even for 3x the money. Before I get to the guitar itself, let me talk about the delivery of the instrument. It came single boxed with little if any padding. I was immediately alarmed. It was plain the box had be previously opened and then resealed, because of two different methods and tape colors. When I opened the box, the instrument had two hairline cracks at the heal joint or pocket where the neck slides into the body. I then asked to return the instrument. Amazon was very good about this and sent a replacement and returning the damaged item was no problem at my local Kohls. The new item came and was double boxed, thus further confirming my suspicion that I had originally been sent an item that had been returned by someone else. I don't know who is at fault, but I think it is Amazon. A guitar should never be sent they way I received it, and a returned item just shouldn't be sent out to a new customer without inspection. When I returned the item I used the box the replacement came in so it is double boxed, hopefully they won't send it to someone else.....

Now to the guitar. I have a unique perspective because I handled two examples. The one I returned, besides the cracks, had the nut improperly aligned with the neck and there was some play in the whammy bar. The replacement is perfect, so maybe some quality control issues. The one I returned had a roasted neck, the new one I am unsure of (see photo comparison) The fret work on both is nice and seem to be stainless steel. The tuners are very nice and are good quality. The pots are full sized and the bridge is great. It has a push in arm that stays where you want it, and the block is big! The only down side of the bridge is the adjustment screws for the saddles are a bit rough on your hand. The pickups are ceramic, but sound good. The switch is the only cheap feeling component with a circuit board. In short, you get a lot of high quality features on this guitar for the price. The neck also has the spoked wheel truss rod adjustment- and is a compound radius! One thing that really got me was the pick guard. It is mint green and looks very out of place so I replaced it.

The neck is the big thing. Is it roasted? The ad is unclear. Are the frets stainless? Again the ad is unclear, but I think they are. If you read the top of the ad it says the frets are highly polished nickel silver. Scroll to the bottom and they are described as stainless steel..... Not being a metallurgist I can't say 100%, but I think they're stainless. The same with the neck. The item description is ambiguous. The first one seemed to be roasted, the replacement less so. See the pictures. Regardless, If you get one in good shape, this is a great bargain. To Eart: use better packaging, pay close attention to quality control.

Really nice guitar, specially for the price. Is it as good as my MIA Fender? no, but it is really good, I've been playing it for a couple a weeks and I'm liking even more, the stainless steel frets did it for me, the only complain I have is the vibrato/tremolo bar, not the greatest but it gets the job done, I'm looking forward to getting another EART guitar!!

    5.0 out of 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Plays as well as the real thing

Built like A Fender Ultra, with a duel acting Truss rod, stainless frets, and roasted maple neck. The features go on and on, because this inexpensive guitar is built like a tank.Even the ceramic pickups are nice sounding, and I normally replace those with Alnico.Full sized, quality tone pots, rounded fret edges , with a compound radius neck included. The neck is thin like an Albeniz, and fast chord and note changes are easy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good quality components, but needs work out of the box

The components of thus guitar are of great quality for the money - a roasted neck with stainless steel frets, a great satin sunburst finish, and a full block tremolo with steel saddles... But the buzzing on the low E is atrocious, and definitely rattles when amped up. I tried to fix it by adjusting the neck, bringing up the saddles, even refilling the nut slot - still a lot of buzzing. This is one of those guitars where you may get a decent one right out of the box, and then you may get one like mine which needs 100 dollars worth of work... Quality control is obviously not quite there yet with this company.
