When on the trail & pushing through those miles - your shoe/sock combo can make or break your day… Over the years I’ve tried all the top brands. Today, my go to hiking/backpacking/rucking shoe are the Altra Loan Peak’s. This is maybe my 5th pair. Love the roomy toe box, the light weight, yet, tough enough feel & they CRUSH the miles!!!     I bought these shoes because I was going to hike in Oregon for my spring break. I have Altra shoes for working out so I figured I would see what kind of trail running/hiking shoes they had since I knew they were good for my foot type. I just got back from my trip and these shoes were GREAT! The first time I wore them they didn't tear up my ankle/heel like new shoes usually do. When I wore them hiking we were hiking in snow. They had good traction and they got a little wet but my socks never felt wet. They have some mesh covered slits at the front which I think helped keep my feet from getting too hot and sweaty and kept them dry. I never leave Amazon reviews but the whole time I was hiking I was like "Oh my gosh these are amazing I'm so glad I got these". They are light, comfortable and gave my toes space but were tight enough around my heel/bridge. They also fit my insoles well. I'm not usually an outdoors person but I guess I have a good reason now since I have these shoes!

    I tried all the Altras and these are my favourites. SO comfortable, light and roomy in the toes. Never needed breaking in. There is not a lot of cushioning at the ball of the foot, but it was easily fixed for me by using socks with a small amount of cushioning in the sole. I use these for walking and hiking, not for running. I got the orange ones because they were on significant sale in my size, but the color is actually quite nice - rather more on the coral side than stark raving orange.

    Just returned from 3 weeks hiking in Ireland and wore these every day on tow paths, hillsides, beaches and cities. They are the best! Very lightweight and comfortable. I bought the water proof version as well, but only needed them on two days (we had unusually fabulous weather). The lack of padding on the bottom was most noticeable in Dublin where I was only walking on concrete, so I switched to socks that had a bit more padding and was fine. I will be buying a pair in a less obtrusive color to wear as regular shoes.

    I ordered my first pair of Ultra Lone Peak 6 from REI; wore them on the At and wore them through the Ocean to Lake hike in Florida. Absolutely love them! Light weight, designed to be wide, excellent support, have velcro tabs for gators if needed, dark color, so dirt doesn't show up, and dries out quickly. REI doesn't carry them anymore, so I was so happy to find them on Amazon!

    I waited awhile to write a review because I wanted to really break these shoes in first. I’ve taken them on several difficult hikes so far and they’ve held up very well. They’re comfortable, offer good traction in mud, and my toes actually have room to spread out. I initially thought the shoes were too big when I tried them on, but I realized it’s actually the style of the shoe print and they’re designed to give your toes more room. I like that feature, especially when you’re hiking all day. I recently hiked in rocky steep terrain and they held up very well over roots, jagged edges, and muddy terrain. I hit the tip of my toe on a lot of rocks/roots and the toe area on these shoes protected my foot very well, and the top of the shoes have quick-dry lightweight mesh. I’m happy with these shoes, wish I had them earlier on some more strenuous hikes I did over the summer. My only complaint is the ugly color scheme. I really wish they offered more subdued colors in these shoes. The shoes say “orange” but they are more of a coral/pinkish/salmon color and really stand out like a highlighter. The more subdued colors were almost twice as much, but would hide dirt/scuffs better and not stand out so bad…but I tend to go for comfort over appearance. Just wish the color didn’t make my feet look like Ronald McDonald shoes. Overall, these are great trail shoes and seem do to the job. They can really take a beating.

    Leider hat mir die bestellte Größe nicht gepasst. Deshalb musste ich diese zurückschicken und habe mir ein anderes Paar bestellt. Ich kann also die Schuhmarke ALTRA Lone Peak 6 sehr gern weiterempfehlen. Für Menschen mit "breiten Füßen" ist damit eine schmerzfreie Wanderung garantiert.
    Bei der Rücksendung gab es Probleme, weil Amazon den Status "Lieferung erfolgt"
    nicht erstellen konnte. Somit hatte zwar Hermes die Schuhe bei mir zu Hause abgegeben, aber ich konnte diese vorerst nicht über Amazon zurücksenden. Dann erfolgte nach normaler Wartezeit die unverzügliche Rückerstattung auf mein Konto.

It's not barefoot as it has cushioning at the base, but i bought these for cycling and sports. Man how i can wear other shoes now. I would happily buy more Altras if they are a reasonable price. Because of the wide toe it does make your feet look small, but who cares if you are comfy.
