What is Anglotopia?
Anglotopia is the largest website on the web dedicated to Anglophiles and all things Great Britain. We’re based in the USA.
This site was started in May 2007 with one goal: get my wife and I back to Great Britain after an absence of 3 years. In November 2009 – it succeeded in that when we won the British Airways Face to Face business contest.
Anglotopia has grown beyond what I ever imagined – in 2012, we received 1.5 million visitors! It’s become a gathering place for people who just plain love Britain and that includes Brits – in fact a large amount of our traffic comes from the UK!

Who Are We?
Anglotopia is run by me (Jonathan Thomas) and my lovely wife Jackie. I’ve been obsessed with Great Britain since I was about 8 years old. I can’t explain it. I don’t understand it. I love everything about Great Britain. I know I’m not alone in this, so I decided to start this website so that fellow Anglophiles could gather and discuss what they love most: Great Britain.
Anglotopia is a fast growing website has changed dramatically since it was originally launched in 2007. The site has become more successful than I ever imagined.
I spend a large part of my life reading books about Britain (and other Anglophone countries), watching British TV and planning my next trip. Long term, my lovely wife and I would like to live in England for a few years. As we work towards that, I can use this blog as a creative and informational outlet to help achieve our dreams.
Anglotopia has been our full time jobs since April 2011 and has grown from strength to strength. We spend every day working on something we love and earn a good living from it. We travel to Britain at least once a year and when we’re lucky, twice!
What is an Anglophile?
The strict definition of Anglophile is someone who loves England.
However, we use the term in a more far reaching capacity and use it to define anyone who loves England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We also include any country that Britain has touched in it’s long history and we regularly feature articles on Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and much more.
This website started out as a place for all the people out there that are perfectly happy to spend a whole weekend watching a British Comedy marathon on PBS. It’s for all the people that dream of traveling to Great Britain or have been there and wish to go back. It’s for all the people fascinated by British Culture, British History and above all the British themselves.
