Since no-one bothered to write a review so far, I decided to make a short one (maybe as shallow as the movie itself).
[ Story ]
Rebellious daughter wants her pocket-money drastically raised and because daddy refused she stole the dragon army, moved into the nearby summer residence (she secretly re-built into a fortress) and mithers the villagers and her father with daily attacks.
The story turns into something else later on but still stays pretty lame. No depth no nothing.
[ Characters ]
The only known characters from Slayers are Lina and Naga. Both are and behave like expected. No progress or development in any direction there.
The other characters are only introduced shortly and shallow. Actually there’s no-one worth to mention. You’ll forget them as soon as the story is over anyway. Rather lame for a movie.
[ Animation ]
For 1998 the animations are suitable and good. Bit better than in the TV series, but only slightly. The style is the same.
[ Beginning/Ending ]
It starts bit interesting since dragons are involved… and we all know the relationship of dragons <-> Lina from the TV series ;)
Nothing special to say about the ending. The story ends.
[ Summary ]
Light entertainment on mediocre level.
You should know the TV series of Slayers, at least the first two seasons, because neither Lina nor Naga get introduced in the movie. Not that it’s much important for the story there, but with the background knowledge of the characters of the TV series it’s not as boring as without.
Like the laughing matters of Naga and her self-claimed competitions to other people’s laugh.
Whatever, the silly jokes don’t reach the level of the silly jokes from the series and it sometimes even appears to be made forcefully funny.
It has its funny highlights every now and then though.
If you are a Slayers fan, then watch it, otherwise watch something else.
