Well great thing to see but I have feeling that the creators had some problems with ideas

Agreed. I was very entertained by it when it was aired on tv couple of years ago. Some episodes still make me rofl (the ice skating competition one is my fave and also the one with Akane vs Kodachi in that movable ring XD - the one in that female Ranma fooled Ryoga [acting as if she was in love with him] made me laugh tears)
And one anime that had good dubs (like the English and the German one).

Well, entertaining enough for a season or so, but my god it gets tiresome after a while.

Not sure if I want to buy this on DVD or not... 20DVDs/161 episodes $140.00... probably worth it.

The first 6 episode was awesome until Ryoga shows up...
Man he destroyed the show, feel sorry for Ranma.
And isn't this reverse harem? oh well another anime destroyed because of a character...

omg... there's no development!!! o.O
there's an episode where akane make something (dont remember what) to celebrate 2 years since ranma moved in... and they still have 16 years o.O
and it's ridiculous the way she never find out that p-chan is ryoga (the worst character in the series ¬¬)...
its a funny series... but as divinity9 said, only for a season.
I'll finish watching today (maybe tomorrow, i'm on ep 124), but only because I never stop a series in the middle

edit: finished.... ok, I fell like I was watching a pure filler anime ¬¬

Akane and Ranma don't get closer, Akane don't find out anything about Ryoga, NOTHING HAPPENS IN THE ROLE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And wtf??? Every time Shampoo, Ukyou or Kodachi approached Ranma... he just ignore them and their feelings, but when Ryoga approach Akane, she blushs and give you the impression that she don't really like Ranma (or at least is not sure)... like in a reverse harem ¬¬

Well, watch the first season, if you think that is REALLY funny (it's not... in my opinion), then watch this one too... because the comedy is the only reason to watch this =/

ps: yes... my english IS bad

Well, it's true that it's entertaining and was really funny as hell... and I don't care if it is a filler anime or not, because it was REALLY REALLY Funny for comedy 10/10... BUT
I hoped some development between Ranma and Akane in the last season and of course, there is not any... not even a kiss (when Akane is Juliet and Ranma is Romeo, that false, taped kiss doesn't count at all)... however before that, in the 18 ep Tv season, Shampoo kissed the male Ranma, when he defeated her.

HOWEVER put aside that all
what really dragged me up in this Nettou Hen series is the last two episode: Boy Meets Mom, Part 1-2. I thought it would be a beautiful and funny reunion between Ranma and Nodoka... but not. Just how the *UCK could they mess up this in the manga... Nodoka saw only for a moment the real male Ranma, when that accident happened and he saved her, because after that she passed out... (and because of that she thought of that as a dream... *uck the manga creator(s)...)(And there would have been than this, that Nodoka finds out the truth and make some drama scenes with Ranma and Genma with the seppuku things, but in the end they all celebrate the reunion funny (even for minimum 1 hour) and after that Nodoka and Ranma+Genma will be separated again somehow... I only expected something like this) AND THAT'S ALL!!!! What the *uck are they thinking?!? DON'T JOKE WITH THE REUNION FEELINGS!!!!!

I hope that there will be some really development in the next 4 series...

It's a classic but it's also rather dated. While I don't think it was the original source in anime, it did set the standard for a lot of tropes.

Some very funny moments, some very annoying moments.

Overall, a decent first series. Don't know if I'll watch anymore past the first season though after reading the comments about some things not developing:brickwall:

I'll echo on the statements that it's probably best to only watch the first season. It gets really, really repetitive and the new characters like Happosai and the Hawaian teacher are more infuriating than funny. Don't know why people hate on Ryoga, though. The best character in the show if you ask me and the one who should really end up with the heroine.

Actually none of you should even watch this anime period.

I wholly recommend you reading the Ranma 1/2 manga which is a thousand times better than this poorly made anime. My score on this anime is actually for the manga.

Unfortunately, the quality of the episodes vary immensely. Some of them are extremely bad. And it is the same with the characters. The Principal should have been an episodic character from a piss poor episode, but he becomes a regular. And Happosai is given enough screen-time, you'd think he was one of the leads.

In contrast, Urusei Yatsura was a lot more consistent and the good episodes were masterpieces. It's a shame because the first season promised so much more.

The first BD box is out!

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=PCXP-60021

Hey, only $436, what a bargain! Every box has approx. 50 episodes, then it's ok I guess.

Doki picked it up already. 720p @ ~55GB.

First 18 episodes, separated from this as a first season, were glorious! When I finished, I read many comments on Ranma anime in general, most of them saying that it gets repetitive and boring quick after this first season, which means from the beginning of Nettou Hen. Of course I didn't believe it - I mean, how can such a good and original anime turn boring??!
In case you are asking the same question and have a LOOOT of spare time, you can see a perfect example how it's done in this show.
First 20-30 episodes were not that bad, it still had the spark of originality and good funny moment from time to time.
Episodes 30-80 is where the torture starts: you basically have a few major topics, repeating over and over, only being served to you in many different ways and disguises. it's very hard to keep attention because it's not entertaining at all.
Epsidodes 80-120 - I don't remember the exact point/episode, where I totally stopped paying attention to the show when playing. I just clicked play and did whatever I needed in the meantime, in a few cases I even fast forwarded through half of the episode when it was really bad and it was hurting me even to only listen to it
Episodes 120-143 - Again, I don't remember the exact ep, but I said to myself that since it's nearing end of the series, the quality is ought to go up. It wasn't necessarily true. Most of the epsidoes near end were as crappy as your average nettou hen episode. Few of them held some kind of promise(mainly those Ranma+Akane focused), but none of them 'SURPRISINGLY' resulted into anything meaningful. If you want at least some kind of a 'progress' episode, you have to wait for the last two eps and let me warn you, even those don't mean or change anything in the end.
So yeah, it left me angry and unsatisfied after finish, cursing myself once again for being such a completionist.
I started watching the OVAs and so far, it looks like another Love Hina case. With Love Hina it somehow made sense, because they had only 26 episodes in the original, not enough to execute the whole hate turning into romance scenario, but with Ranma it is pure bullshit. Pardon my language, but there is no milder way to say it. What is the point then? What is the point of making and from viewer's side watching 161 episodes(130 of them deadly boring) with 0 development and then concluding it all in 10 standard lenght OVAs?!
If this series had some decent conclusion, it could have been much better in general - this may sound desparate, but even a damn kiss in the very last episode would save this A LOT! But this way, it was completely worthless. It's not exactly bad, but like I said, worthless and pointless. If I knew, I'd watch the first season and then jump straight to OVAs, would save me a hella lot of time!

Stalled on 30-something of 161 episodes realizing Shampoo as the sole remaining motivation to continue. Actually I feel more like starting Maison Ikkoku for the 3rd time instead of skipping through the rest of Nettou hen. Oddly enough, it seems like Ranmas direction intended to provide same or similar background settings feel like in MI, but such kind of mood creativity has no meaning here. In MI, localization and settings play an important role in its storytelling while in Ranma it doesnt matter at all.
