I understand that this is being aimed at kids and thus isn't exactly packaged to a lot of the hardcore fans or anything but... really trailers are the only extra content they're going to bother with? Not even going to have at least a couple of commentaries, a small behind the scenes info talking about the differences between this TT and the original series. Some interviews with the VAs and their thoughts on the characters.... I don't know ANYTHING that would of required at least a little bit of effort? Because really why have the DVD then if the show doesn't have that many eposdes and they still air a lot on Cartoon Network? This makes even less sense since the season sets of Regular Show and Adventure Time have a good amount of extras (especially the later) and are big sells so you'd think they'd want to try harder to get more people interested. Really I can't imagine anyone outside of a few parents buying the DVD if there's so little content in it and the show is still so readily available to watch. Especially in this age of streaming when it's so easy to find the episodes avialable for free online anyway you need to put in the extra work to give a reason for people to pay for DVDs.

That's par for the course for most kidvid. I was at a New York Comic Con a while ago at the Wildbrain panel, and when someone asked about bonuses or season sets for Yo Gabba Gabba!, they said that the market research showed that bonuses for most kid's shows didn't help sales in any meaningful way, and kids didn't care about season sets (especially for shows that don't have continuity). Those are features that grown-ups care about. There are still single-disc releases for Adventure Time and Regular Show that don't have many bonuses, and then season sets that have all the cool bonuses. That's really an acknowledgement that those shows have a kid audience and a grown-up audience. The powers-that-be at WB seem to think that there isn't a substantial adult audience for the superhero shows, or they just don't care about them (I'd lay even odds on either alternative, and they are not mutually exclusive), but I think that rationale is a lot more justifiable for something like TTG than it is for, say, Beware the Batman or Young Justice. But the DTVs are aimed explicitly at the teen-to-young-adult audience, and they're also the home video releases that get bonuses.

I think it's also still a lot easier to bring a DVD along when you're traveling because you still can't stream video or get cable in your car. I always thought this was the major driver when Disney started pushing combo packs for their animated feature Blu-rays, since there just weren't as many Blu-ray players in cars.

I fear nick@nite on Nickelodeon would expand more hours later in future as kids stopped watching tv, and older adults still use linear tv. Just like what happened on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network when gained extra hours like starting at 5pm.
CN CEE was questionable about the OSL changing during the 2004 (2006 here)-2010 logo era.
First it was small, then big, then small again for a short time in Spring 2008, then big again, and finally red sides on the cubes in mid 2010. And even weirder is that the Hungarian sub-feed stayed with the small one.
Boomerang CEE, 10 years ago today

A rebrand that lasted almost 3 years.
Since they are almost close to finish animating TAWOG Season 7, i'm wondering what new "out of context" scenes will litterally look like...
