Pizza is normally quite unhealthy but with these healthy pizza ideas you can enjoy your favorite comfort food without feeling guilty!
There are two main reasons why pizza is unhealthy; one is the pizza crust and the other reason is the cheese. So if you skip the cheese or go for a healthy pizza crust you’ve got yourself a healthy dinner!
This pizza crust is healthy and super easy to make. No need to knead dough, just use a whole wheat or multi grain tortilla! This pizza made of a tortilla is called a tortizza. You can find my video recipe here.
You can also find the video of my vegan rainbow pizza on my YouTube channel.
This pizza base is completely made of vegetables. It’s slices of courgette topped as mini pizzas. You can find the recipe here, or check the video to see how I’ve made it.
In the dutch supermarkets you can buy ready made cauliflower pizza crusts, this makes it even easier to create a healthy pizza! The brand I most often use is Magioni. I’ve made several variations, this one is with sundried tomato hummus, fresh spinach leaves, grilled peach and cubed sweet potatoes.
This cauliflower pizza crust is covered with red beet spread, sliced avocado, radishes and a bit of rocket. A whole lot of veggies in this vegan pizza!
When your mom said ‘eat your greens’ she probably wasn’t thinking of pizza! But this pizza is stuffed with veggies. It’s a cauliflower pizza base with vegan pesto, lettuce, broad beans and sprouts.
For this pizza I used tomato sauce, light mozzarella cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, red onion, olives and cherry tomatoes. I’ve seasoned it with oregano. Using herbs and spices is a great way to add a lot of flavor to your pizza without adding many calories.
You can also use a naan bread as the pizza base. Naan bread is already very high in flavors, especially if you use the garlic naan. I topped mine with pesto, mozzarella, red onion and cherry tomatoes. You can check my naan bread pizza recipe here.
They also sell red beet pizza crusts in the Dutch supermarkets. This pink pizza adds a lot of color to your dinner! I’ve topped my red beet pizza with peach, rocket and vegan chicken.
For this pizza I used a pumpkin pizza base and topped it with mozzarella. I baked it in the oven for about 10 minutes and topped it with rocket, avocado, cherry tomatoes and pesto.
I love sweet potatoes! I’ve made many recipes with it and I’ve also made a sweet potato pizza crust. Check the recipe here.
I’ve topped this cauliflower pizza base with vegan pesto. Most pesto’s that you can buy in the supermarket aren’t vegan, although some shops will offer 1 vegan variety. You can easily make vegan pesto yourself though, the recipe is on this page. I topped the vegan pesto with artichoke hearts, red onion, pumpkin seeds and parsley.
I used tomato hummus for this pizza and topped it with thinly sliced red beets, fresh spinach and sunflower seeds.
Another pizza with tomato hummus, this time on a courgette pizza base, topped with rocket and soy beans. I seasoned this pizza with pepper, chili flakes and sesame seeds.
Wanna take your pizza game to the next level? Try Sushi Pizza! With Sushi Pizza you make your crust from sushi rice and top it with your favorite sushi ingredients. Mine are wasabi mayonnaise, carrot, avocado, seaweed and sesame seeds. Click here for a tutorial video on how to make sushi pizza.
You can even have healthy pizza for breakfast! My oatmeal pizza recipe is one of the most popular recipes on my blog. And I can understand why; it’s not often that you can have pizza for breakfast!
I also once had a matcha pizza for breakfast! If you’re lucky enough to find a matcha pizza base (this one was from my Magioni Pizza Diet), you can top it with soy yogurt, blackberries, grated coconut and matcha powder for a delicious breakfast pizza.
