Peek inside Arrive hotel, opening in Austin next month

A short two years after beginning construction, Arrive East Austin is set to open next month. Located at the corner of East Sixth and Chicon streets in East Cesar Chavez, the boutique hotel will be the third opened by the Los Angeles-based chain; the first is located in Palm Springs, and the second opened this month in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Arrive Hotels seems to go in for incorporating some local vernacular in its builds, so—unlike its California counterpart, which riffs on the area’s midcentury-modern history—the Austin hotel incorporates industrial elements referencing the neighborhood’s recent past with a sort of mod-rustic chic that typifies a style the adaptive reuse and DIY renovation common to the area in the past couple of decades.

The resulting guest rooms are stylish and inviting—artful and distinctive but unpretentious. While it apparently wasn’t done by the many local artisans who produce fine work in a similar vein, the light-colored wood built-ins and furniture complement the polished concrete floors, graphically bold wallpaper, and collages by local artist Sarah Presson (one of the local artists whose work also adorns the hotel key cards). Almost as exciting is that Arrive East Austin will be the first hotel to provide luxury bedding and Turkish towels by Brooklinen, one of the internet’s favorite bedding purveyors. The bathrooms feature floor-to-ceiling subway tile and a few touches of marble.

Other local designers and professionals who worked on the project include co-developers Alexa Management, project consultants Burton Baldridge Architects, Big Red Dog engineering, DWG landscape architects, and EyeLikeDesign creative design. The five-story, 8,500-square-foot hotel has 83 rooms.

Arrive East Austin’s total 58,600-square-foot space includes the adaptive reuse of a 100-year-old warehouse, now home to Lefty’s Brick Bar. The hotel features additional places to obtain food and drink, including Cartel Coffee Lab cafe, Gin Bar, and Vixen’s Wedding restaurant (which is where guests check in to the—did we mention?—lobby-free hotel).

The hotel will offer introductory rates until Labor Day, after which its standard rates start at $199 per night.
