BMW might bring another EV named i6
BMW already has two models under its i division, which are i3 and i8.
New Delhi: BMW is working on a new electric coupe, which will be named as i6, reveals a media report. The German luxury carmaker has already lined up iX3, iNEXT and i4, which will hit the market by 2021. Adding the i6 will make the carmaker a strong contender in the world EV market.
BMW already has two models under its i division, which are i3 and i8. The i3 is a fully electric vehicle, while i8 is a hybrid model. With the new EVs lined up, the automaker is showing an aggressive product strategy in the zero-emission segment.
The company already holds the trademark for i6, which would arrive in 2024 and compete against rivals like Audi e-Tron GT, Mercedes-Benz EQS and Porsche Taycan.
As the report claims, the BMW i6 electric coupe will draw styling inspiration from 8-Series Gran Coupe. While BMW has not revealed any detail of the car, it could be powered by two electric motors, each powering one axle.
The front axle will get a 204 PS pumping motor, while the rear axle will come equipped with a 340 PS generating e-motor. Combined, the electric powertrain will churn out 544 PS of power output.
Also, expect the luxury electric coupe to come with a range of around 700 km on a single charge, claims the report.
