Notes: this species shows striking sexual dimorphism as well as pronounced differences between breeding and non-breeding plumages; non-breeding makes and females (pictured below) are plain brown-streaked birds, whereas males in breeding plumage are jet-black with a bright yellow rump and a yellow shoulder patch.
