If you're looking to save money on Amazon purchases, there are several ways to do so. Two of the best ways include leveraging targeted offers like adding a credit card to your Amazon wallet or redeeming just one credit card point. Both can result in significant savings.
Currently, targeted Amex cardholders, and potentially Citi, Chase, and U.S. Bank cardholders too, can save money when redeeming points to cover at least part of an eligible Amazon purchase. Generally, using credit card points for Amazon purchases isn't great, as the return per point is subpar. But when these offers come around, redeeming just one point for up to 50% in savings is an exception worth making.
Here's a look at the active Amazon one-point promotions and some ways to maximize your purchase.
Page Contents
Active Amazon One-Point Promotions
Amazon routinely offers several “one-point” promotions, which are often renewed without notice. It's worth periodically checking the links below to see if you're eligible for a new offer — even after they are listed as expired at the bottom of this post. Or, if you see that you're not eligible now, consider checking back to see if your eligibility changes.
From what we can tell, if you are eligible, you will see the offer. If you're not eligible, you'll see a notice saying that you aren't eligible. If the offer isn't running, the landing page may appear blank.
And before you click through any of the following links, be sure to note the general terms and conditions of these offers:
- Limited to products sold and shipped by Amazon.com (not third-party sellers).
- Eligible on purchases of gift cards (except Amazon.com gift cards).
- Offers do not apply to the purchase of digital content.

- U.S. Bank Shopper Cash Rewards™ Visa Signature® Card: 6% cash back on your first $1,500 of combined purchases each quarter from two merchants you select. Amazon is one of the options.
- Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card: 2 miles per dollar on every purchase, every day.
- Unlimited 5% back at Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and on Chase Travel purchases with an eligible Prime membership
- Unlimited 2% back on local transit and commuting (including rideshare)
- Unlimited 2% back at restaurants and at gas stations
- Unlimited 1% back on all other purchases
- 6% cash back on your first $1,500 in combined eligible purchases each quarter with two retailers you choose
- 3% cash back on your first $1,500 in eligible purchases on your choice of one everyday category (like wholesale clubs, gas and EV charging stations, bills and utilities)
- 1.5% cash back on all other eligible purchases
- 5X miles per dollar on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel
- 2X miles per dollar on all other purchases
Our Take
Amazon's convenience is great, but the chance to save up to 50% on your purchase is even better. While redeeming credit card points to cover Amazon orders is generally not advisable, cashing in just one (or adding cards to your account) to enjoy major savings is absolutely worth it.
If you're targeted for these offers, act fast. Most will disappear after a certain number of enrolled cardholders participate. And if you're not targeted now, check back often until you are.
