Donahue ran in the 2012 election for Kentucky State Senate District 15. Chris Girdler defeated him, Todd Hoskins, Joe E. Laswell, Dennis Mitchell, and Mark F. Polston in the primary on May 22, 2012. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1]
