Chuck Welke is a former Democratic member of the South Dakota State Senate, representing District 2 from 2012 to 2015.

Welke passed away from a heart attack on May 11, 2021.[1]

Biography

Welke earned his B.A. in School Administration and Physical Education from Northern State University in 1975. His professional experience includes working at the Warner School as an athletic director and principal from 1977 until his retirement in 2010.

The general elections for the office of South Dakota State Senate took place on November 4, 2014. A primary election took place on June 3, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 25, 2014. Incumbent Chuck Welke ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Brock Greenfield was unopposed in the Republican primary. Greenfield defeated Welke in the general election.[2][3][4]

Welke won election in the 2012 election for South Dakota State Senate District 2. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5 and defeated incumbent Arthur Fryslie (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[5]
