Daniel Vila Rivera was a Green candidate for borough president of Manhattan Borough, New York. Rivera was defeated in the general election on November 7, 2017.
Rivera was a 2016 Green candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 13th Congressional District of New York.[1]
Rivera was a 2014 Green candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 13th Congressional District of New York.[2] He ran unopposed for the Green Party nomination in the primary on June 24, 2014.[3] Daniel Vila Rivera lost the general election on November 4, 2014.
Biography
Rivera studied at City University of New York and Borough of Manhattan Community College.[4]
Professionally, Rivera is the co-producer and co-host of WBAI's La Voz Latina.[4]

2017
New York County in New York held a general election for county officials on November 7, 2017. New York County is also known as the Borough of Manhattan.[5] A primary election was held on September 12, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates in this election was July 13, 2017. Incumbent Gale Brewer (D) defeated Frank Scala (R), Daniel Vila Rivera (Green), and Brian Waddell (Reform) in the general election for Manhattan borough president.[6]

2016
Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Democratic. Incumbent Charles Rangel (D) did not seek re-election, leaving the seat open. Adriano Espaillat defeated eight other Democrats in the primary to replace Rangel. The race between Espaillat and Keith Wright was initially uncalled with Espaillat leading by nearly 3%. Wright conceded from the race two days after the election. Espaillat then defeated Tony Evans (R), Daniel Vila Rivera (G), and Scott Lloyd Fenstermaker (Transparent Government) in the general election. The primary elections took place on June 28, 2016.[1][7]
