Greg Beard is the judge for the 9th Judicial District, Subdistrict 2 Division G, in Louisiana. He was elected to the court on November 4, 2014, to a six-year term commencing on January 1, 2015, and ending on December 31, 2020.[1][2]

Beard ran for election to the 9th Judicial District.
Primary: He was elected in the primary on November 4, 2014, receiving 53.6 percent of the vote. He competed against Harry Randow and Charles Gravel.

2008

Beard was defeated in his bid for a seat on the Louisiana 9th Judicial District Court vacated by the retirement of Judge Rae Swent. The election took place on October 4, 2008. Beard's opponents for this seat were Mary Lauve Doggett, Mike Hislop and Thomas "Rocky" Willson.[3]

Education

Beard received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and his J.D. degree from the Southern Law Center.[4]

Career

Before his election to the court, Beard was a partner at the firm of Beard & Beard Family Law Firm in Alexandria, Louisiana.[4]

Approach to the law

"The retirement of Judge Swent allows me the opportunity to serve the people of Rapides Parish. I will bring my values of honesty, integrity and dedication to justice to the 9th Judicial District Court," Beard said in an interview with The Town Talk. In that same interview he went on to state that his Christian faith would play a role in his judicial decisionmaking. "The values of my faith are the principles which guide my life. I pledge that these are the basic values that will guide my service as judge," Beard said.[3]
