Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Lawrence's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • National Debt: Runaway federal spending has mortgaged our future. Today, we owe more than $19.2 trillion, nearly $60,000 for every man, woman, and child in America. We must cut spending, eliminate waste, and reduce the size and reach of the federal government.
  • Jobs and the Economy: The more jobs that are created, the more earning power we all have as workers. And jobs are created when taxes are low, government gets out of the way, and entrepreneurs are able to invest in creating or expanding businesses. We must cut regulation and red tape, reduce taxes on job-creators, and eliminate government waste and overreach.
  • National Defense: As a veteran, I have seen firsthand that America is strong when our friends trust us and our enemies respect us. We must maintain a strong military and be cautious and measured when deciding to commit our armed forces to battle. But once we engage, we must win decisively and then come home.
  • Tax Reform: We spend too much time and money simply preparing our taxes each year and trying to make sense of a corrupt tax system. And Washington uses loopholes and giveaways to reward donors, pick winners and losers, and expand its power. I support a simplified and fair flat tax.
  • Veterans Issues: New Hampshire’s veterans deserve better. We must demand more responsive services from the Veterans Administration, including a dedicated hospital, expanded health care coverage, career services, and family support.
