Linda Lopez, Arizona Senator
Linda Lopez (b. September 10, 1948) is a former Democratic member of the Arizona State Senate, representing District 2. She was first elected to the chamber in 2008. On December 31, 2013, Lopez submitted her letter of resignation from the chamber, which took effect on January 13, 2014. Lopez cited the demands of her new position with the Easter Seals Blake Foundation in Tucson, which she took on in October 2013.[1]
In the 2013 session, Lopez served as Assistant Minority Leader, but stepped down on October 21, 2013 after accepting the job with the Easter Seals.[2] Lopez previously served as the senate's Minority Whip.
Lopez served as Representative/Assistant Minority Leader in the Arizona State House of Representatives from 2001-2008.
Biography
Lopez earned her B.A. in Women's Studies from the University of Arizona in 1990. Her professional experience includes working as a Therapeutic Foster Parent at La Hacienda from 1978 to 1988, working as a Clinical Supervisor at La Frontera Center from 1991 to 2003, working as a Program Development Coordinator until 2006, and working as a Community Relations Coordinator for La Frontera Center since 2006.

Goldwater Institute
The Goldwater Institute releases its "Legislative Report Card" annually for all Arizona legislators. This report card tracks how legislators voted on key votes and assigns them a letter grade based on how closely their votes agree with the Institute's positions. The primary values emphasized in the ratings are whether votes expand or restrict liberty.[3]
2012
Lopez received a score of 42 out of 100 in the 2012 report card for a grade of D- according to the Goldwater Institute’s grading scale. This score was 13 more than her score on the 2011 report card. Lopez’s 42 in 2012 was tied for the 23rd highest grade among all 30 Arizona State Senators.[3]

Lopez won re-election in the 2012 election for Arizona State Senate District 2. She ran unopposed in the August 28, 2012, Democratic primary and defeated Don Woolley (R, Write-in) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5]

Lopez won re-election to the 29th District seat in 2010. She had no opposition in the November 2 general election.[6]
2008
In 2008 Lopez was elected to the Arizona State Senate, District 29. She was unopposed and finished with 37,248 votes.[7] Lopez raised $25,482 for her campaign fund.

Fiesta Bowl scandal
Lopez is one of 29 Arizona legislators (20 Republicans and 9 Democrats) who accepted illegal gifts from the Fiesta Bowl in the form of all-expense paid trips and free football tickets. She ranks second in the amount received, $16,847, over five trips in five years.[8]
