Monty Wilkinson is the former acting attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice in the Biden administration. He held office from January 20, 2021, to March 11, 2021, before Merrick Garland was confirmed to the office.[1]

Biography

Wilkinson graduated from Dartmouth College and the Georgetown University Law Center. He began working at the Department of Justice in the Criminal Division, focusing on narcotics and organized crime. He also served as counselor and deputy chief of staff to the attorney general and an associate deputy attorney general.[2]

In 2014, Wilkinson became the director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys. He joined the Justice Management Division in 2017, where he worked as a senior counselor in the Office of the Assistant Attorney General for Administration.[2]

In May 2019, Wilkinson was appointed the deputy assistant attorney general for human resources and administration in the Department of Justice. He also served in a second role as the department's chief human capital officer.[2]
