Witness the story
of a music icon
He started life as Riley B. King in one of America’s most impoverished places, the Mississippi Delta. He had little but the dream in his heart and a destiny that would take him around the world. Because of his international fame, music lovers from every part of the globe beg for more about the man who became B.B. King.
The B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center tells the story of King’s life, his career, and stories of the Delta—its history and music, social mores and race relations, literature and legends, adversities and successes. You’ll find it in B.B.’s hometown of Indianola, which sits squarely in the middle of the Mississippi Delta, the land that gave birth to American music.
Visitor Testimonials
So worth the drive. We really enjoyed the history of B.B. King.
If you are or were a pro musician or music fan, allow 2+ hours to simply walk thru, read & listen to these great exhibits. Outstanding music museum!
What a heck of an amazing place this is! I was totally overwhelmed with the vast amount of memorabilia and items from B.B. King’s iconic history. I highly recommend this place and that you allow sufficient time to see all of the exhibits.
Well worth the ride! The facility is modern and clean and the staff could not be more friendly. They take the visitor from childhood to superstar and everywhere in between using mementos from every aspect of B.B.’s life and just as he was. The museum feels as though he were there.
He Made His Mark
Along the way to becoming an international icon, B.B. had heeded his mother’s advice. He treated the people he encountered with honesty, civility, and compassion. And the work ethic he learned in his youth guided the businesslike management practices he applied to his large traveling entourage. As you roam through the Museum exhibition and collection, you will see how well these philosophies repaid him, and how much this man from the Delta has contributed to American culture.
