Where Bloggers Create Studio Tour!

I've been soooo looking forward to this event...  Thank you so much Karen for all of  your effort to make this happen.  You won't want to miss the other fabulous spaces either.  Here's a link back to Karen at My Desert Cottage for you....  Just click HERE.

Karen's space is SPECTACULAR!  You'll want to see that, for sure.  But look at mine first please...  It'll look a whole bunch better...  it's gonna be pretty pitiful after seeing Karen's.   :-)

I am CRAZY about Cath Kidston, so that was my inspiration ...  It's so HAPPY isn't it?

I have a teenie, tiny studio space, but have SO much stuff tucked into every, single nook and cranny.

I've tried to get things as organized as possible....  Whew, is that ever a tough task....  If you're an artsy girlie, you'll exactly what I'm talking about.   So many things carry over from one project to another.

Secondly...  I LOVE STUFF...  really love it.  Yep, one of those hoarder kind of girls.  I admit it.  There it is.....  in black and white.      :-)

Here we have my work table ...  I made it... yep, sure did.  It works great.... lots of storage behind that little curtain.  I also made the bigger scalloped shelf and the one with points.  Those little babies hold a lot of goodies.

Try to ignore the hideous office chair.  The new one  I ordered was really poor quality, so it's going right on back.    I had an old one before that I had made a sweet, 'lil slipcover for, but it was so big and bulky I could hardly move the darn thing.

Making every, single inch count was a priority Chickies...  Just look at all that goodness on crammed onto a six inch wide shelf...   :-)

I've had this odd, old sewing machine table for about a century now... I'd love one of those dandy Koala, fancy ones........... but one would never fit into this beensie space....  And, this one works just fine.

Edward Scissorhands, where are you?  I LOVE the things... probably have at least fifty pair....

Ugly lamp shade?  Feather boa is the fix!  You can barely see it back behind that stack of books, but that jar with the ribbon?  It's full of precious notes from my daughter.  LOVE it.  And, it was one of my most cherished gifts evah!

No, there are NO diamonds to be found...  but it was easier to write that on the tag than "little, fake, stick on rhinestones"...   :-)  And, more colored pencils.   These are watercolor pencils...  Can't have too many colored pencils.  Seriously.  You can't.  At least that's exactly what I tell the Hubbster.  * I have HUNDREDS of 'em.   :-)

I bought those two small, fancy 'lil shelves at the thrift store...  just perfect for small stuff...

Rolling right around to the crammed FULL side of the room.  So happy that you can't see this wall before you're actually IN the room.  But, let me tell 'ya...  I have A TON of stuff stored here.  I just bought the Billys at Ikea knowing how fantastic they would be....  Three of the regular sized ones and one that's skinnier.  Fills the whole wall!  I wish I had been able to buy matching and beautiful containers to use, but that would have been super, duper expensive so I used mostly what I had already.  Yep, PENNY PINCHER...  Tilly Tightwad, for sure.

The little child's chair doubles as a footstool and a step stool to reach higher things.  Short.  Yes, I AM.

I bought the little drawer do-hickie at the thrift store for a couple of bucks.  It was part of a vanity, but with some wood filler, paint and knobs it's just great.

See that adorable red heart up there?  A gift sent to me by Sue at Rue Mouffetard..   I LOVE her.  Thank you SUE!

You still here?  Wow...   :-)   Geeee...  Thanks!

New chair, Ikea.  I swear, I couldn't make the slipcover as inexpensively as they sell them.  And, those shelves!!!  ...  See, I couldn't fit another thing in there!  Packed as full as possible...  Everything is marked, but I want to make a "map" of everything as well.  I'm going to print the pix on regular printer paper and write on each container what's inside.  And, eventually make new and fancy tags.  Right now these will do.

This stool serves as a ............wait for it..........stool...   How clever am I?..... and as an end table when I'm using my chair...  need something more that that little lamp, but where........WHERE ..........would it fit?

So DEAR Chickies...  there you have it...  TINY... I think my space is about  9 X 10 or so, but it really is my HAPPY PLACE.

So glad you came by.  Now, pop on over to see lots and lots of wonderful places Where Bloggers Create!

Huggies and Lovies...

Spencer

PS....  Can anybody explain to me how to make my pictures bigger and not run into all that stuff on my right sidebar?  I cannnnnot figure it out.

  6. Your efficiency is awesome. We will be moving soon and my new craft room will be much smaller than the one I have now. Your room is inspirational! I like the idea about photographing the shelves and then making a map. I will borrow that idea if I may. Thanks for the tour!

  9. Dear Spencer,
I have just come to your blog via a link from Lady Lydia's blog. You have a beautiful blog and your pictures look perfect, just the right size.

I see that you asked for help in making them big but not so much that they spill over into your right hand column. From my perspective it looks like you have figured that out. But if you still need help, follow these instructions:

With your blog open on your computer screen, near the top right you should see the word "Design." Click on that.

On the left side of your screen about half way down you should see "Layout." Click on that.

Near the top right of your screen you should see "Template Designer" in a blue font. Click on that.

You should see a large black portion on the top of your screen. On the far left see where it says "Adjust Widths." Click on that.

You will see some horizontal slide bars. With a pen and paper beside your computer, write down the numbers on those slide bars. That is how your widths are currently set. Write these numbers down so that after you change them, if you don't like what you've done, you can at least go back to what you had them set to.

If you will go to my blog (http://myjournalreflections.blogspot.com), you will see that my template is similar to yours in that I have 2 columns, with my wider column on the left and the one on the right is narrow. I currently have my "Entire Blog" bar set at 970 px. My "right side bar" is set to 230 px. I arrived at those settings purely by trial and error. You can click on and slide those white rectangles on the bars to change the widths of your columns.

With my widths set as described above, when I insert a photo into my blog posts, I can set the photos to be Extra Large (X-Large) and they come out very well.

After you get your columns set to the width you want, be sure to click on the orange "Apply to blog" rectangle at the top right of your screen. (this saves any changes you may have made)

I do hope this helps you to achieve what you want.

I have subscribed to your blog and look forward to seeing more of your wonderful posts and pictures. Blessings, Barbara

  11. What a great space filled with fabulous creative tools and supplies! The rose pillow with the wide pink stripes on your Ikea chair is made using the same fabric I had on my breakfast chairs until they were recovered this spring. I love that rose fabric and hated to replace it, but my cats loved it more than I did and shredded those little chairs. :(

  15. Oh my I love your space. The white shelves and I too love Cath Kidson so it's right up my alley. I love the chair too. I wish Ikea wasn't so far away from me. I would be there every week, I'm sure. Thanks for visiting me and your sweet comments. I am Janet from Graceful Rose.

  16. I love your space. It looks like you've changed some of your pics? Have you?
When your posting click HTML to get out of compose. I would suggest doing it just as you put in a pic. If you do the entire post it's hard to see. Then just read through all the computer lingo and search until you see height and then an = sign and a number this is the number you want to change. It is kind of trial and error the one I looked at was 320 height and 420 width. I just kind of play around with it and see what I like. You can switch back and forth between compose and html playing with the size. My photos are all size. I just play with it till I think it looks good. Some are really big. Some medium. Come by and look at my post. I didn't do much this last week but weeks prior there are a lot. At the end of each post is a horse. These photo's I really change sizes on. Let me know how it works!

  17. Hi Cupcake!! 9 x 10 isn't small!!! My space is more like 5 x 9! Now that's small! Your studio looks mahvelous dahhling!! But, of course, I knew it would!! That's just you!! The room that was suppose to be my studio a couple of years ago ended up housing children, and will soon house my MIL with dementia. I still love my teensy space, though. I do have other places to store supplies, so it isn't too bad!

Hugs to you! Hope all is well in your world!

  18. I really like your studio space. I adore the wicker baskets and storage on the wall of Billy shelves. All matching storage containers is a nice neat look, and as you said expensive, but I really do prefer the mixed pieces you have. So much more character. Thanks for sharing your inspiring space. I now know that I need to soon add a comfy chair to my small (about 8' x 9') studio.

  19. Love it "using a stool as a stool"...too funny! It looks like you have your photos right up to your side columns so I don't think you can go any bigger. Another thought would be to take larger photos and adjust your template settings>posts and comments>Showcase images with Lightbox>No...this allows us to double click on your images and "blow them up" to the actual photo size they were saved as. Hopefully I didn't just confuse the hell out of you. :-) Drop me a note if I can help explain it better.

  25. Spencer, I think your craft room is fabulous! Those shelves full of pretty things and the scalloped shelves you made...be still my heart! When you post your photos if you click on the photo in your new post a box comes up and you can choose different sizes. You have probably done that already, but it works for me. Other than that I'm not sure what you can do.

I love everything about your 'Happy Place'!!!!!

  34. Oh, I love your studio! I'm not on the WBC tour but I heard about it and am so glad I stopped by your blog today. Your style and love of English books, etc. are right up my alley! I listen to audio recordings at Librivox.org of novels by British authors while making my porcelain pottery. Really puts my head in the right place! And I've only recently discovered Cath Kidson - sooooo lovely! Amazing what you've done with your small space - the baskets! the decor! Simply adore all of it! And most especially the scalloped shelf - I am CRAZY about scalloped decor! In fact I'm considering making some curtains for my kitchen using a scallop detail on the hem, and I think I spied a tutorial link here on your blog! But I'm in danger of "scallop mania" both inside and outside my home! Can you have too much of it? Nawwww, certainly not! I'm following your lovely blog now, most definitely! 39. my son-in-law is 44 yrs. old and I am sure your husband has what my son has. He is a vice pres. of a company and travels and so much speaking to do. He is in constant pain, eating, talking, sleeping; he first had a tooth that needed a root canal and the pain got worse after and he kept going to diff. dentists frustrated they are not address his tooth pain. This one dentist told him it was not his tooth it is nerves and go see a nerologist (SP) what a miracle going to the last dentist. They found he has this nerve in his brain , he is on seizer meds even though he has no seizers but the pain is unreal. There last op will be brain surgery. Praying for a miracle.

    1. Yes, my husband had trigeminal neuralgia Linda. So painful. But, that's not what caused the strokes. It seems it might have been the meningitis. Not even positive about that. I hope your son-in-law gets his problem solved as well. My husband initially used the meds for epilepsy too. It worked very well for quite some time. He's out of pain now, back to work and feeling great. Thanks so much for asking. :-)
