And if also a man contend in the games, he is not crowned, except he have contended lawfully.
And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain.
for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come.
Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own; for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.
All chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness. Wherefore lift up the hands that hang down, and the palsied knees; and make straight paths for your feet, that that which is lame be not turned out of the way, but rather be healed.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith:
He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength.
Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course.
