You search the scriptures, for you think by their means to have eternal life, and they are the very writings which do testify of me. yet you will not come to me, that ye may have life.
but that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, is evident: for, " the just shall live by faith." now the law does not justify by FAITH, but says, "he that DOES these things shall live by them."
for by the observation of the law no one shall be justified in his sight, since it is the law that takes cognizance of sin.
Now what is testified, is this, that God has given to us eternal life: and this life is by his son. he that receives the son, is intitled to life; and he that does not receive the son of God, has no title to life.
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me shall live even though he were dead: and no man living that believeth in me, shall ever die.
Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no man can come to the father, but by me.

for by grace are ye saved, thro' faith (and that not from us: it is the gift of God) but not by works, so that no man can boast:
You husbands, do you on your part behave with prudence towards your wives: who being of a more delicate make, ought to be treated with the greater tenderness: and consider they are equally intitled to the evangelical gifts, that your prayers may not be frustrated.
It is thus his divine power has given us every thing conducive to life and piety, by making us acquainted with him, who has called us by his illustrious power;
he that believeth on the son, hath a right to everlasting life: and he that disobeys the son, shall not enjoy life; but be expos'd to divine wrath.
for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life.
I declare unto you, he that heareth my doctrine, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come under condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
I say, is the will of him that sent me, that every one who observes the son, and believeth on him, should have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
but these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Messias, the son of God, and that believing ye might have life through his name.
however I obtained mercy, that Jesus Christ might demonstrate the greatness of his clemency, by making me an eminent instance of it to those who should hereafter believe in him, in order to eternal life.
he that loveth his life, shall lose it: but he that sacrifices his life in this world, shall preserve it to eternity. if any man would serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my servant be: whoever serves me, him will my father reward.
but the gate which leads to life is narrow, and the way is difficult, and few there be that find it.
or what would not a man bestow to preserve himself? whosoever therefore shall be asham'd of me, and of my doctrine in this degenerate and corrupted age, of him likewise shall the son of man be asham'd, when he shall come with the glory of his father, accompanied with holy angels.
Having heard this, they were appeas'd, and glorified God, saying, God has then granted salvation likewise to the gentiles, on the terms of their repentance.
since then we died with Christ, we are persuaded that we shall also live with him: knowing that Christ being raised from the dead, is to die no more; death hath no more dominion over him. for as to his death, he died upon the account of sin once for all; but as to his being alive, he lives to the glory of God for ever.read more.
in like manner consider your selves as dead to sin; but alive to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
