"Have you never read in the Scriptures," Jesus answered, "how The stone that the builders rejected Has been made the corner-stone; This is the Lord's doing, It is wonderful in our eyes?
"Have you not read this Scripture?" (he continued) "The very stone which the builders rejected Has now become the corner-stone;
He looked at them and said: "Then what does this scripture mean. "The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner?
"For he is the Stone, cast aside by you builders, which has become the head stone of the corner.
For, as Scripture says. Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner-stone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him shall never be put to shame. For you, then, that believe, is the preciousness; but for those who do not believe, A stone which the builders rejected, The same has become the head stone of the corner,
"He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but he upon whom it falls will be scattered as dust."
"Every one who falls on that stone will be broken in pieces; but whoever it falls upon will be scattered as dust."
And why? Because they sought it not by faith, but thought to gain it by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling; even as it is written. Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense; but he that believes on Him shall not be put to shame.
Come to him then, that living Stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, and precious. And yourselves like living stones be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God, through Christ Jesus. For, as Scripture says. Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner-stone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him shall never be put to shame.read more.
For you, then, that believe, is the preciousness; but for those who do not believe, A stone which the builders rejected, The same has become the head stone of the corner, and, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense. They stumble over it because they are disobeying God's word, and to this they were also appointed.
