And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to speak with him. And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done. And Hamor spoke with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter: I pray you give her to him for a wife.
Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.
If my heart has been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbor's door;
But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
And it shall be unto you a tassel, that you may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that you seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which you use to follow harlotry:
O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and direct their heart unto you:
Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another; though my heart be consumed within me.
My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
Trust not in oppression, and hope not vainly in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
And seek you not what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, neither be of anxious mind.
