But Pilate was astonished that he was already dead; and having called the centurion to him, he inquired of him whether he had been any while dead.read more.
And having learned the fact from the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulcher that had been hewed out of a rock: and he rolled a stone to the door of the sepulcher.
And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counselor, a good and a just man; (he had not given his consent to their counsel and deed;) he was of Arimathea, a city of the Jews, and he himself also waited for the kingdom of God: this man came to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.read more.

And after this, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave him permission. He then came and took away the body of Jesus. Then came Nicodemus also, (who, at the first, had come to Jesus by night,) bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. Then they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen cloths, with the spices, according to the Jewish custom of burying.read more.
Now, in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. There, then, on account of the preparation-day of the Jews, they laid Jesus, for the tomb was near.
