And a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores, had been laid at his gate, and he was always craving to get a square meal from the scraps that fell from the rich man's table. When she and her household were baptized, she begged us by continuing to say, "If you have made up your mind that I am a real believer in the Lord, come and stay at my house." And she continued to insist that we do so.
But if anyone has the world's means of supporting life and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how can love to God remain in him?
Then Zaccheus got up and said to the Lord, "Listen, Lord! I now give to the poor half of my property, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay him back four times as much."
At Joppa there was a woman, a disciple, whose name was Tabitha, which in Greek means Dorcas, that is, Gazelle. She had filled her life with good deeds and works of charity, which she was always doing. Just at that time it happened that she had been taken ill and had died. They washed her body and laid her out in a room upstairs. As Joppa was near Lydda, the disciples heard that Peter was there, and sent two men to him, begging him to come to them without delay.read more.
So Peter at once got up and went with them. When he reached there, they took him to the room upstairs, and all the widows took their stand around him, crying and showing him the shirts and coats that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
Only they wanted us to remember the poor; the very thing that I was eager to do.

He who always supplies the sower with seed and the eater with bread will supply you with seed and multiply it and enlarge the harvest which your deeds of charity yield. Continue charging the rich of this world to stop being haughty and not to fix their hope on a thing so uncertain as riches, but on God who richly and ceaselessly provides us with everything for our enjoyment;
So you must stop seeking what to eat and what to drink, and must stop being in suspense about these things. For all these are the very things the nations of the world are greedily trying to get, and surely your Father well knows that you need them.
But keep on storing up your riches in heaven where moths and rust do not make away with them and where thieves do not break in and steal them. For wherever your treasure is, there too your heart will be.
Sell your property and give to charity. Provide for yourselves purses that will never wear out, riches that never fail in heaven, where a thief cannot come near nor a moth destroy, For wherever your treasure is, there too your heart will be.
charge them to continue doing good and being rich in good deeds, open-handed and generous hearted, in this way amassing for themselves the riches that forever endure in the life to come, so that at last they may grasp the life that is life indeed.

but when he found out from the captain that He was, he gave him permission to take His body. So he bought a linen sheet, then took Him down from the cross, wrapped Him in the linen sheet, and laid Him in a tomb that had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a boulder up to the doorway of the tomb.

After this, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one because of his fear of the Jews, asked permission of Pilate to remove the body of Jesus, and Pilate granted it. So he went and removed His body. Now Nicodemus also, who had formerly come to Jesus at night, went and took a mixture of myrrh and aloes that weighed about one hundred pounds. So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in bandages with the spices, in accordance with the Jewish custom of preparing a body for burial.read more.
There was a garden at the place where Jesus had been crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. So, because it was the Jewish Preparation day and because the tomb was near by, they laid Him there.
